The sale of elephant ivory, rhino horn and tiger parts in Asia alone were worth an estimated R750 million in 2010. Between 1989 and 2009, there were at least 55 very large ivory seizures, with an average volume of 2.3 tons. ABDUCTING
The LRA is a brutal rebel group of abducted soldiers. Much of the
core fighting force has been with the group for a decade or more,
abducted as children from northern Uganda. They have no clear
political motivation, but take advantage of whatever turmoil is
affecting central Africa for their own survival. They’re violent, and
abduct, murder, and loot their way across the porous borders of
central Africa.
