demand products with
low competition in the
market. But even before
any research is made
there must be set of
criteria that should be
laid down
Basic Amazon Product Research
For our product research time not go to waste, we need to know
the following before starting our tasks:
• Restricted Products - products that we cannot sell in Amazon.
Sample of these products are alcohol, electronics, drugs, food &
beverage, etc.
• Gated Products - products that we need approval before we
can sell in Amazon, e.g. watches, jewelry, videos, etc.
• Hazardous Materials - these products needs thorough review
and may be better to avoid e.g. paints, perfume, apparel, etc.
Amazon Product Criteria
Define together with the client the criteria of the products that you will be
selling in Amazon. Some are some of the sample criteria that can be
considered:
• Target market and audience
• Product is not seasonal
• Selling price not lower than $20 to ensure that we still have decent
profit margin (30% and higher)
• There is huge demand but low competition, with revenues greater
than $7K and reviews less than 500
• Lightweight to save on shipping from supplier and to customers
• No legal issue
• Product still have room for improvement
Manual Research Method Automated Research Method
• Check the Best Seller List in
Amazon
• Check frequently bought items
from the existing products
• Check what competitors are
doing
• Use tools like Helium 10's
Black Box or Jungle Scout
Now that we've identified our criteria, it is time to start
with our product research via these 2 methods:
STEP 1
Step by step process in finding MY product
IDENTIFY THE TARGET MARKET - for my product I am targeting
the whole family but most especially the moms of each and every
home. Potential product is the FOLDABLE PICNIC BASKET WITH
BLANKET
Why choose this product? This is the product I am putting on the
table to be sold in Amazon for the following reasons:
⚬ This product, though labeled as foldable picnic basket
can be used not just for picnics but for any outdoor
activities like traveling, watching concerts, shopping, etc.
⚬ It comes with blanket which you can use anytime you
want to rest outdoor and ensure you are sitting/lying on a
clean ground
⚬ The product is not seasonal

VALIDATE IF THE PRODUCT IS PATENTED, HAZARDOUS, PART OF GATED CATEGORIES.
Based from the list of Amazon, my foldable picnic basket is not part of the Hazardous
and gated categories product. If patented, checked with USPTO.GOV site and there is
none similar to my product.
STEP 3 STEP 4
IDENTIFY THE AVERAGE PRICE, REVENUE and REVIEWS
of the competitors. Using the Helium 10 Product
Analyzer, we can determine the top ASIN/Product of our
competitor.
IDENTIFY THE PROFITABILITY OF THE PRODUCT. After
identifying the product, I checked potential supplier
from Alibaba and used the Amazon Seller Central
profitability calculator to determine the anticipated
PROFIT MARGIN.

What to do during Sourcing
The normal go to site for sourcing supplies is on Alibaba, the world's largest
e-commerce
LOOK FOR POTENTIAL
SUPPLIERS IN ALIBABA
Search for top 3 suppliers and
check for the following:
• Supplier is a verified supplier of
Alibaba
• Supplier is a Trade Assurance
Alibaba.com's built-in order
protection service which
protects online orders when
payment is made through
Alibaba.com
PREPARE THE QUESTIONS FOR
NEGOTIATING
• What is your MOQ for OEM?
• What are the available
pacakging? Can photos be sent?
• If I am to start with 200 units to
check profitability, can you
provide the best price for unit
and pacakging?
• What is the production lead
time?
FINALIZE INITIAL ORDERS
Once negotiation of best price is
done:
• Get the actual dimension and
weight of the product and units
that can fit in 1 case
• Get the complete factory
address; request for trade
assurance
• Send your initial FNSKU and
carton labels to the supplier
A product listing page (PLP)
is a page on a website that
presents a list of products
based on a category or
search query. This page is an
essential element of the
eCommerce experience as it
funnels site visitors to product
detail pages and closer to
conversion

Keyword research is an essential part of product selling in Amazon or
any eCommerce business as this will help you top the searches and
achieve that #1 rank in the business
In my journey in the Amazon Seller VA masterclass, I utilized
Helium's 10 Cerebro, Frankeinstein and Scribble in doing all my
keyword research and product listing.
How to do Product Listing
STEP 1
From the product research,
go back again and use
Helium 10 Cerebro to
identify the keywords with
HIGHEST REVIEW and
HIGHEST SALES
STEP 2
Once keywords are
identified, go to Helium 10
Frankeinstein to determine
the unique keywords and
phrases
STEP 3
After all important
keywords generating sales
are determined, use Helium
10 Scribble to start making
your product title, bullet
point, description and
search terms
