2. TASK 2 - TASK SPECIFICATION:
Goal: To spread awareness of the impact of climate change.
Role: Environmental Activist
Audience: Local Community
Situation: The recent climate change has brought a lot of calamities.
Reducing your carbon footprint is important because it mitigates the
effects of climate change, which has a positive effect on public health
and plant and animal diversity. In addition, this boosts the global
economy and leads to innovative, more environmentally-friendly
solutions.

8. What is Carbon footprint?
carbon footprint is the total amount of
greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide
and methane) that are generated by our
actions. The average carbon footprint for a
person in the United States is 16 tons, one of
the highest rates in the world.
10. What is Climate Change?
Climate change refers to long-term
shifts in temperatures and weather
patterns. These shifts may be
natural, such as through variations
in the solar cycle. But since the
1800s, human activities have been
the main driver of climate change,
primarily due to burning fossil fuels
like coal, oil and gas.
12. New Zealand
Location
New Zealand, island country in the
South Pacific Ocean, the
southwesternmost part of Polynesia.
New Zealand is a remote land one of
the last sizable territories suitable for
habitation to be populated and settled
and lies more than 1,000 miles (1,600
km) southeast of Australia, its nearest
neighbour.
Environment
environment of New Zealand is
characterised by an endemic flora and
fauna which has evolved in near
isolation from the rest of the world. The
main islands of New Zealand span two
biomes, temperate and subtropical,
complicated by large mountainous
areas above the tree line.

Animals
The kiwi is a unique and
curious bird: it cannot
fly, has loose, hair-like
feathers, strong legs
and no tail. Learn more

15. New Zealand
Problem in carbon footprint
Based on the latest available Inventory data for 2018 for Annex 1 countries,
New Zealand's gross emissions ranked 24th among the Annex I countries, but
New Zealand's emissions per person were the sixth highest at 16.9 tonnes
carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) per capita.
In 2019 New Zealand's gross greenhouse gas emissions were 82.3 million
tonnes of CO2-e, 0.2 percent lower than 2005 and 26.4 percent higher than
1990. Emissions were 2.2 percent higher than 2018.
17. Mexico
Mexico is located in the southern
portion of North America, bordering
the southwestern United States from
California to Texas. The southernmost
Mexican states of Quintana Roo,
Campeche, and Chiapas define the
northern border of the isthmus of
Central America.
Mexico is a land of extremes, with
high mountains and deep canyons
in the center of the country,
sweeping deserts in the north, and
dense rain forests in the south and
east. Mountains cover much of
Mexico.

Animals
The Official National
Animal of Mexico. The
official national animal of
Mexico is the golden eagle.
As an important symbol of
Mexican culture dating
back to Pre-Columbian
times, it is featured almost
everywhere. An image of
the golden eagle eating a
rattlesnake even adorns
the country's flag.
20. Mexico
Problem in carbon footprint
CO2 emissions per capita in Mexico are equivalent to 3.58 tons
per person (based on a population of 123,333,376 in 2016), a
decrease by -0.12 over the figure of 3.70 CO2 tons per person
registered in 2015; this represents a change of -3.3% in CO2
emissions per capita.
34. Paris Climate agreement
The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate
change. It was adopted by 196 Parties at COP 21 in Paris, on 12 December
2015 and entered into force on 4 November 2016.
Its goal is to limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5
degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels.
To achieve this long-term temperature goal, countries aim to reach
global peaking of greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible to
achieve a climate neutral world by mid-century.
36. Paris Climate agreement with New Zealand
New Zealand hereby communicates its nationally determined contribution under
the Paris Agreement.
New Zealand commits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 30% below 2005
levels by 2030.
New Zealand is using Kyoto Protocol to recognise and focus on
additional action, and will create incentives for the establishment of new
forests, recognise permanent, long-term enhancements of carbon sinks
resulting from new management, and take responsibility for deforestation,
while accommodating the long-term cycles in net emissions and removals
that arise from sustainable forest management

37. Paris Climate agreement with Mexico
According to the International Energy Agency, in 2018, Mexico
had 448.45 Mt. of CO2 emissions, representing +74.52% from
1990. However, on the Secretariat of Government, the Mexican
Federal Government website, Mexico’s CO2 emissions data is not
updated; the most recent data is from 2015.
