Kirk Hallam has been a highly successful business litigator for more than thirty years,
specializing in trademark, trade dress, copyright , patent, antitrust, computer fraud and
data theft litigation, as well as disputes regarding rights of publicity, partnership
dissolutions, real property, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract.
Kirk received his law degree from the Harvard Law School in 1981 and his Bachelor of
Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles in 197 8 (Summa Cum Laude).
After clerking for United States District Court Judge Judith Keep (SDCA), Kirk became an
associate in 1983, then partner in the Beverly Hills law firm of Rosenfeld, Meyer &
Susman (1987-98), where he represented clients such as Universal Studios, Nike, Lisa
Frank, MGM studio president Alan Ladd, director/producer Sean Hepburn Ferrer, the
Audrey Hepburn Estate, Beach Boy Brian Wilson, music producer Alan Douglas, film
producer and distributor Rene Malo and Jimi Hendrix Music Publishing Co, Bella Godiva.
In 1998, Kirk left Rosenfeld to pursue business opportunities with friends and clients in
the entertainment field, while continuing to handle select complex litigation for his
clients. Having returned to the full-time practice of law in 2008, since that time Kirk has
tried and won, or prevailed by summary judgment or dismissal, in 10 consecutive
trademark, copyright, patent and computer fraud and data theft cases, suits involving,
among other things, copyrights in a Jimi Hendrix documentary film, copyrights in the
Superman Shield, trademark rights in Rin Tin Tin, patent rights in a revolutionary
nontoxic pesticide, theft and destruction of computer data and software, and theft of
trade secrets by former employees.
Kirk has served on the Board of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund since 1993, and is
an avid golfer and tennis player, residing with his family in Brentwood, California.

Prevailed by motion and obtained federal court dismissal of action brought by

Obtained judgment for plaintiff following federal court trial in the Central
District of California, awarding clients all trademark rights in Rin Rin Tin.
Cal Agri v. Steckler (2014)
Following 4 week trial, won $5 million judgment and ownership of valuable
patents for revolutionary nontoxic pesticides.
PhotoFixItPro, Inc. v Gerald Harper (2013)
Won $671,000 Judgment against client's former programmer for theft and
destruction of computer software and data, following trial in California
Superior Court, including all attorneys' fees and costs.
Douglas v. Experience Hendrix (2012)
Won Seattle Federal Court trial awarding client all copyrights in Jimi Hend rix

Won dispute for Arizona company re ownership of patents, aff'd by Arizona

Prevailed on summary judgment and obtained settlement and permanent
injunction for family of Audrey Hepburn in Lanham Act trademark and false

Obtained dismissal of California defamation action involving Estate of Audrey

Won permanent injunction and substantial monetary damages in trade dress
and copyright case in Arizona District Court, establishing important legal
precedent that client's color patterns constitute a protectable trade dress.
