I am currently the Engineering Manager 2 of the Reactor Servicing Operations Head
Area Disassembly group. This position has provides me the opportunity to manage the
day-to-day operations of this group. This role requires assigning and prioritizing work to
ensure our products are developed on-schedule. It also necessitates attending and
conducting staff meetings to facilitate good communication within the group, as well as
between the group and upper management. It requires counseling and mentoring Junior
Engineers, conducting Performance Reviews and reviewing technical documents for
accuracy. In addition to these duties I have been the interim Manger 2 for the
Radiological Support Group and the Fuel Disassembly and Shipout Group. My current
and previous Engineering Manager has also assigned me Acting Manager 3 duties during
scheduled absences. In addition to these duties I am the lead manager for CVN 73
Planning for E82. In this role I provide leadership and guidance to all Project Technical
engineers in E82 that are developing scopes for the CVN 73 Refueling.
2. Technical Experience
January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2004 – Project Engineer
Northrop Grumman Newport News – Reactor Services Project
I was assigned the task of managing the D&D program at DD#3 and DD#4 for Reactor
Servicing. This task includes prioritizing work and positioning of personnel to ensure the
work is performed on time and meets the needs of the customer. To accomplish this task,
I have worked with NRRO, X73, E85 and the Trades. The product issued is the
Technical Work Documents (TWDs) that will reduce the radiological risks associated
with these Facilities.
1988 to 2003 - Associate Engineer, Engineer and Senior Engineer.
Northrop Grumman Newport News – Reactor Services Project
During this time I provided technical services to E82.
• Maintained drawings, technical work documents, and monitored all maintenance
and cleaning and testing of the radioactive liquid waste (RLW) tanks at NGNN.
This included the development and implementation of a new high-pressure wash-
down system for RLW tanks that eliminated the need to enter the tanks for
cleaning purposes.
• Developed/Implemented new radioactive liquid waste tank inspection method.
• Designed Hydrovac/Pump down Systems for various ships.
• Developed the water based hydraulic system (CDRS) used on the SSSB.
• Member of NGNN Quality Team that selected Flowmaster Software.
• Designed HVAC Systems for control of contamination.
• Resolved discrepancies associated with the DI Water System
• Writing, certifying and reviewing procedures for technical quality and proper
radiological controls.
• Resolved numerous discrepancy reports on shipyard equipment and refueling
equipment.
• Written numerous OFI’s (NGNN Opportunity for Improvement Program) from
1993 to Present that has resulted in annual savings of approximately $200,000,
savings every three years of over $600,000 as well as improved numerous NNS
processes.
