  2. 2. Forestry •Forestry is the science and craft of creating, managing, planting, using, conserving and repairing forests, woodlands, and associated resources for human and environmental benefits.
  3. 3. TypesofForestry There are three main types of forestry 1. Temperate 2. Tropical 3. Boreal
  4. 4. TemperateFORESTRY A temperate forest is a forest found between the tropical and boreal regions, located in the temperate zone. It is the second largest biome on our planet, covering 25% of the world's forest area, only behind the boreal forest, which covers about 33%.
  5. 5. TropicalFORESTRY Tropical forests are forested landscapes in tropical regions: i.e. land areas approximately bounded by the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn, but possibly affected by other factors such as prevailing winds.
  6. 6. BorealFORESTRY Taiga (also known as boreal forest) is the northernmost and coldest forest on earth, dominated by species of evergreen conifers spruce, fir and pine, the deciduous conifer larch, and species of birch and aspen. It occurs in vast tracts across Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia, Russia and northeastern China.
  7. 7. benefitsofforestry They help control or reduce the risk of soil erosion, landslides and avalanches. Forests therefore have an important role in protecting the homes and communities (FAO) of animals and people, and they help to maintain the environmental conditions needed for agricultural production.
  8. 8. WildLife Wildlife refers to undomesticated animal species, but has come to include all organisms that grow or live wild in an area without being introduced by humans.
  9. 9. wildlifeconservation Wildlife conservation refers to the practice of protecting wild species and their habitats in order to maintain healthy wildlife species or populations and to restore, protect or enhance natural ecosystems.
