9. The Ease of Using a
Smartpen
A docking station for the pen is plugged into the
computer’s USB port.
When pen is placed on this docking/charging
station – the computer will pull up the LiveScribe
software and begin downloading everything on
the pen.
The notes can be pulled up onto the screen.
Anywhere the mouse touches on the notes –the
recording from the exact time it was written will
begin to play.

10. Next Steps
Each pen is purchased with a specific amount of
memory
1 GB, 2GB, 4GB and more
Each pen can also be used to replay what is in
the notebook until everything has either been
downloaded and/or cleaned off the pen.
Therefore there are two ways to replay what was
recorded: via download to the computer, or
directly from the pen.

11. How can this help in a
library?
Many school libraries that have programs for
their disabled patrons. These libraries have
become the main source for educating their
teachers and students on items such as
smartpens.
If the library knows how to use the tool, they help
educate their community to be able to better use
the resources available.
