2. Process
In these shots, it shows there not
being a black ring on the first one and
there being one on the second shot.
To do this I created a layer were I drew
a black ring around the button, I then
made it invisible for the previous shot
and any older ones as well. And in the
subsequent shot I made the ring
visible and for any extra shots that I
would like it to be visible on. I feel
happy with this as I was using
techniques like this which made me
be able to do things that I didn’t think
I could in my game animation and
create explosions and cracks in the
wall.
3. Process
Both of these shots are part of a 2-3 second sequence where the title and the button
fade away, I achieved this by having 12 shots and in each of the shots I changed the
opacity of the title/button and I lowered it each time so that when it played in the
overall animation. It would fade away in a natural and realistic way instead of it being
there in one shot and gone in the next shot. I am happy with how this turned out as
the fade effect gives it a more mysterious element to it which links with the theme of
the anomalies from the show.
4. Process
In these shots, it shows how I managed
to achieve the effect of a character
running in my game. I achieved this by
creating four different layers of the
character’s arms with it being two for
each arm (front & back for both the right
& left). In the first shot I would have the
position I want the arms in and which
movements I would want to have them
in. And in the next shot I would turn off
the layers of the previously shown arms
and turn the layers on of the oppositely
placed arms so that it would look like it’s
running (I did this with the legs too). I am
happy with the result but sometimes I
feel like it’s a little hard to tell she’s
running but it’s still pretty good.
5. Process
In the screenshots below, it displays how I made/obtained the sounds for my game animation.
For the background music I made it using two different software's called GarageBand and
BeepBox, they were useful because it enabled me to create 8-bit style music and have it be
unique and sound mysterious as well. For my sound effects like running, banging and the
explosions I used a site called Freesound where they have free sounds available to use without
any copyright infringement. I am quite happy with how my sounds turned out as it makes it
seem like a genuine game. However, for the beginning music with the opening menu and the
Gorgonopsid’s roars I had to take those from YouTube videos as I couldn’t make them my self.
Luckily I used under 30 seconds of each which means it’s not copyright infringement.
6. Process
In this image, it shows how I managed to finish the overall animation. After I had exported the
Photoshop files into videos and found the sound effects and music I wanted, I placed them all
on a new file on Abobe Premiere Pro and named it Primeval Game. I then went and cut down
and sped up any parts of the video I felt were either too slow or too fast and I added an extra
part with the Anomaly as a loading screen. I also trimmed down and slowed any sound effects
so that they could fit in the prescribed timings of my video. For the Gorgonopsid name, I used a
text box and wrote it’s name on as when doing it on Photoshop I couldn’t fit it all on. Overall, I
am happy with how my editing turned out as it is all cohesive and it matches well together with
it not having any moments that don’t go well together.
