Tech packs are the most important documents when communicating to manufacturers how you want your garments made.
What Is A Tech Pack?
But before we get into the perfect tech pack format for those of you are new to the business or unfamiliar with the term;
The definition of a tech pack is an information document that clothing or fashion companies use to inform the manufacturers how they want their garment manufactured.
A tech pack should include;
Accurate sketches including stitching details
Garment colour ways
Product measurement guides
Garment specifications
Graded pattern
All Embellishments
Any prints or branding
Labelling trims & packaging
Product costing
Operation production breakdown
Critical to the product life-cycle management (PLM) of any garment it is crucial that the tech pack format you are using contains all the information needed.
If you are not explicitly clear in all the product details then you are leaving it open to interpretation. Something you want to avoid.
Get it wrong and the critical path of your clothing is at risk or worse, you might miss all your deadlines.
