1. How To Create a Facebook Fan Page
Facebook Fan Pages are a great way to promote your business, product or company
though communication with people who become fans of your Page. They appear in
public search engines such as Google and help to drive web traffic to your site.
2. At Facebook.com, click on the advertising link at the bottom of the page. This
will take you to the Facebook Advertising page, which is where you sign up for
a Facebook Fan Page.
3. Click on Pages at the top, which will then take you to Facebook Pages.
Click the green
Create a Page
button to create
a new Page.
4. Choose from the three options to select the type
of business or service you wish to promote with
your Page. Choose carefully, because you cannot
go back and change this.
Type in the name of your Page. Be sure to double
check your spelling as the name of your Page
cannot be changed or altered once it has been
created.
Review the terms and check "I’m the official
representative of this person, business, band or
product and have permission to create this Page."
Then select Create Official Page.
5. If you already have a Facebook account: Log in using your e-mail and password.
Depending on the purpose of your Fan Page, you might want to create a separate
work-related Facebook profile if you don't want the Page tied to your personal
profile account. However, no one can see who runs the page if it is connected to
your personal profile.
If you do not have a Facebook account: Fill in the necessary fields to activate your
Page and select "Sign Up Now!"
After signing up or logging in, you will then be taken to your Page so you can start
editing and adding content.
6. To edit your page, click on the Edit Page link on the
left-hand side of your Page.
You'll then be taken to a screen within your Page to
adjust items such as settings, wall settings, mobile
and applications by way of the links located just
underneath.
So in Settings, for example, click on Edit
and you'll see that you can select
restrictions of who can see your Page
based on age and country. You can also
change the Published Status here.
7. Customize Your URL
Once you reach 25 fans, you can create a customized URL, known on Facebook as a
username. So instead of:
www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Nashville-TN/Tennessee-Association-FFA/
85805538804 ,
you get something more simple, such as:
www.facebook.com/tnhomeandfarm .
To do this, once you have enough fans, go to facebook.com/username and click "Set a
username for your Pages." But again, choose wisely – this is the only chance you have to
create a username.
