I am extremely interested in the position of Assistant Trader. Dedicated, experienced, independent-
minded and passionate about the portfolio and money management business, I am looking to be a part of
a well-established company. I have over 14 years of money management and trading experience. For the
past 5 years, I have been successfully running my own advisory service to traders and hedge funds.
I feel that these experiences prove my net worth, leadership and respect within the financial community.
Prior to my involvement in equities, and money management I was a currency trader on the Tokyo
Foreign Exchange. My responsibilities included Yen/Dollar spot, currency options and swap derivative
products. Other relevant experiences include a contract as Asian credit specialist with EDC (Export
Development Canada) and part-time professorships of business studies at two Canadian Colleges.
My extensive experience with the capital markets and ability to manage stress, keep me calm and
objective under pressure. My positive attitude and unpretentious personality ingratiates me with clients
and enables me to work easily with others.
My knowledge is primarily with the US capital markets but I have experience with the Canadian and
overseas markets as well. I am a generalist by training with some expertise in the technology, financial
service and basic material sectors of the market.
My investment mandate is broad-based but I focus primarily on US mid-and large-cap stocks. The
portfolio emphasized stock selection and a bottom-up approach. I used a combination of fundamental and
technical analysis to buy and sell my holdings. I deal with most of the major US brokers as well as
external research houses such as Ned Davis, ISI and the Bank Credit Analyst to assist me with my
research process. I attended industry conferences 7-10 times a year to meet with managements, analyse
industry trends and chat with other institutional investors.
I have been enjoying myself immensely and successfully managing my own capital. I focus on absolute
returns and run a concentrated portfolio. Using research from the likes of Citigroup, Bear Stearns,
Merrill Lynch Canada, and Dennis Gartman as well as company financials and conference calls, I am on
top of current market trends and can add value immediately.
I believe my experience, personality, education, and broad interests make me an ideal candidate for a job
with your company. Integrity and excellence are values I strongly believe in. I have a personal
commitment to growth and I am keen to enhance my investment expertise. I have included my resume for
your review. Thank you for your prompt attention and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
John LeGresley
