Last week we said entrance into the kingdom of God is granted by believing in Jesus, repentance and accepting God's grace. What of righteousness, good deeds and the like. Today we will take a look at what righteousness has to do with the kingdom of God. 

2. 13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to
be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge
the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in
love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping
this one command: “Love your neighbor as
yourself.”

3. 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be
burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 2 Mark my
words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let
yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no
value to you at all.

4. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself
be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the
whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified
by the law have been alienated from Christ; you
have fallen away from grace.

5. 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the
Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish
them but to fulfill them.

6. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth
disappear, not the smallest letter, not the
least stroke of a pen, will by any means
disappear from the Law until everything is
accomplished.

7. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the
least of these commands and teaches others
accordingly will be called least in the kingdom
of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches
these commands will be called great in the
kingdom of heaven.

8. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness
surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers
of the law, you will certainly not enter the
kingdom of heaven.

10. 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father
is perfect.

12. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge
it out and throw it away. It is better for you
to lose one part of your body than for your
whole body to be thrown into hell.

stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is

than for your whole body to go into hell.

15. 3 Then he told them many things in parables,
saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As
he was scattering the seed, some fell along the
path, and the birds came and ate it up.

16. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not
have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because
the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came
up, the plants were scorched, and they withered
because they had no root.

17. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up
and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on
good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred,
sixty or thirty times what was sown.

19. 24 Jesus told them another parable: “The
kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good
seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was
sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among
the wheat, and went away.

20. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads,
then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s
servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you
sow good seed in your field? Where then did the
weeds come from?’

21. 28 “ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The
servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and
pull them up?’ 29 “ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because
while you are pulling the weeds, you may
uproot the wheat with them.

22. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At
that time I will tell the harvesters: First
collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be
burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into
my barn.’ ”

23. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and
they will weed out of his kingdom everything
that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will
throw them into the blazing furnace, where
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

24. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in
the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears,
let them hear.

25. - Being a good person doesn’t save you but
when you’re saved you become good.
- Strive for the ceiling, not the floor.
- God will judge the righteous and the
unrighteous.
