A collection of weather-beaten pylons that stand as a reminder
to the town’s past as a grain port, set against a magnificent cliff
backdrop it makes for a great sunset photograph. The jetty was
partially destroyed in a storm in 1915.
Star of Greece
Caught in a fierce storm on 13 July 1883, the ship ran aground
and broke up. It became one of South Australia’s worst marine
disasters. Today, it is a popular spot with snorkellers and divers,
but you don’t have to get wet to see the wreck. At low tide it
can often be seen jutting out of the water, just north of the jetty.
