Networking Experience (complete one for each event and upload to your blog in the suitable post) May the force be with you – Lord David Puttnam Lord David Terence Puttnam David Terrence Puttnam hosted the presentation at Sunderland university Murray library. David Terrence Puttnam (Born on 25th February 1941) David is a very well know British film maker/producer, educator and a member of the former house of the lords. Some of his famous work/films include Chariots of fire, The killing fields, The mission and more. He received a BAFTA for outstanding British contribution to cinema. In 2006 he won and was awarded the BAFTA fellowship for lifetime achievement from the British academy film and television arts. David Terence Puttnam also sat on the labour benches in the houses of the lords in 2019 he was appointed a chair to the selected committee on democracy and digital technologies. The committee published its findings later in digital technology. I learned about how the mass market of media is mainly streaming services and how platforms like Netflix and Disney + have grown into a massive part of the media industry. David also told us how the big companies like Disney end up buying the smaller companies and become a mass family and how they become a completely different company in doing so. He told us how media is an expansive area with 100’s of jobs opening each day and how didn’t even know some of the lesser know one’s were the best. David told us about Dubbing which is a service where mainly anime is dubbed in different languages making millions. He made it very clear how good of a movie Coda is and how we (the audience) are missing out vastly. He also talked about how many movies people were consuming a year and he thinks the standard is at the very least 70 movies a year. After explaining the process of film and how important Coda of a film is he went to talk about how present day is the best time to work in the film industry because of the business has shifted for the better. He mentioned how the media industry specifically brands like BBC, ITV and ALL 4 and more are always wanting new and fresh ideas and it’s a market to throw yourself at.
