Education With Social Media Social media consists of many activities that includes online socializing and networking using words, pictures and videos related to education. Sites like Face book, MySpace, YouTube, Flicker, blogs, Twitter etc are used for marketing in higher education. http://www.socialmediatoday.com/SMC/72784 15-12-10 ਸ਼ਾਮ 09:52:56 14
Education with Social Media Originally Face Book was launched in 2004 for Harvard students, and then was expanded to other Ivy League universities. After that it was open to any university student, and than to anyone above thirteen years of age Initially Face book is made up of six primary components: personal profiles, status updates, networks ( schools, companies), groups, applications etc. http://doteduguru.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/social-media-in-higher-education.pdf 15-12-10 ਸ਼ਾਮ 09:52:56 15
Future of Education with Social Media Geo-tagging will be a powerful tool for higher education as it can be used to target locations and get information about those locations, whether students are working on sociology, science, etc. The Apple iPod will have a significant impact in the education market by giving students the ability to have all their textbooks and notes on one device coupled with social media and collaborative capabilities. The smudging of technologies: Augmented reality, mobile computing and crowd sourcing. Collaboration will turn into a mix between online and offline environments through augmented reality, mobility and the ability to bring in the wisdom of crowd sourcing with physical environments. 15-12-10 ਸ਼ਾਮ 09:52:58 16
Future of Education with Social media Social media can help solve the student engagement crisis. Social media has an opportunity to engage students in a manner that not only compatible with the way students already communicate with their peers, but can foster more open, collaborative conversations between students and instructors. In order for both students and instructors to engage in social media, there needs to be a level of incentive. In terms of student incentives, McGraw-Hill is experimenting with status, reviews and rewards models, similar to those used by Amazon and eBay. GradeGuru.com is leading this charge with its Status Badges for top contributors to its site. http://mcgraw-hill.presslift.com/social-media-higher-education 15-12-10 ਸ਼ਾਮ 09:53:01 17
