HISTORY OF UFONE:
Pak Telecom Mobile Limited or Ufone is a Pakistani GSM cellular service provider. It was the
third mobile operator to enter Pakistani market. It started its operations under the brand name of
Ufone, in Islamabad on January 29, 2001. PTML is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan
Telecommunication Company Limited.

IS MODEL:
HARDWARE:
Ufone use, HP, Dell & Lenovo computers & laptops, and the
specification of both computer & laptop is same, Core i7 8th
Generation Processors, 20GB of DDR3 RAM, 512GB HARD DISK
INPUT DEVICES:
In input devices Ufone use, Keyboards, Mouse, Fingerprint Scanner,
Scanners, Cameras, Microphone etc.
PROCESSING DEVICES:
In processing devices Ufone use, 20GB of DDR3 RAM and Core i7
8th Generation Processors.
OUTPUT DEVICES:
In output devices Ufone use, Monitors, Speakers, Projector, Printers,
Fax Machine, Headphones,
STORAGE DEVICES:
Ufone use cloud storage of SAN (Storage area network) and NAS
(Network-attached storage). They backup their data on daily basis.
They do contingency plans and create duplicate copies.
SOFTWARE:
Ufone is using HP & Oracle softwares. They also use some private softwares.
DATABASE SOFTWARES:
In Database softwares, they are using SAP HANA. SAP HANA is basically a (high-
performance analytic appliance) application that uses in-memory database technology that
allows the processing of massive amounts of real-time data in a short time.
SYSTEM SOFTWARES:
Ufone use their own private softwares and they also use Windows 10 – 2019, MS Office 360 in
system softwares.
APPLICATION SOFTWARES:
In application softwares, they are using “U Connect”, “My Ufone” & “FMS” . They also use
Application Tracker software, it is a software asset management tool that monitors and report
license usage on applications with different licensing methods for e.g. “Flex Net” license
managers, “Node-locked” applications or even applications running without a license manager.
MOBILE DEVICES:
In mobile devices, Ufone is using “blackberry” devices.
NETWORKING
All the workstation within the region office are connected through Local Area Network (LAN).
Ufone has over (359 franchise and 17 service centers) over the country which have been linked
through Microwave or Phone lines, Satellites etc.
• Ufone is using Guided medium networking. They are linked with PTCL (Pakistan
Telecommunication Company Limited).
• They are using Fiber Optic Wires for networking.
BANDWIDTH:
Every location has its own separate bandwidth
ROUTER:
Ufone is using CISCO & JUNIPER routers.
TOPOLOGY:
Ufone is using Mesh Topology, a Mesh topology consists of a network where every device on
the network is physically connected to every other device on the network. This provides a great
deal of performance and reliability, however the complexity and difficulty of creating one
increases as the number of nodes on the network increases.
BENEFITS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO UFONE:
ACCURATE AND SPEEDY PROCESSING OF INFORMATION:
Information Technology has multiplied their abilities to process all sorts of information
accurately and with lightning fast speed. The use of spread sheets, database programs, word
processors and many other tools help in ease of work without compromising on reliability.
INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY:
Information Technology improves productivity by enabling communication, collaboration, and
knowledge sharing that allows employees to innovate. These capabilities are delivered through
a multitude of technologies including file servers, central databases, broadband connectivity,
mobile platforms, email communications, and many others.
GLOBALIZATION:
Information technology has removed the physical barriers between nations and connected them
through their shared ideas and opportunities. The advent of social media has made interactions
easy and the use of Facebook, Twitter and all other social networking sites has drawn culturally
different people to communicate with one another. People on the social media are now
becoming ‘global’ citizens.
Other than that information technology helping Ufone in other areas of business as well.
