ABMCB-3B The LGBT Bashing
We live in a world where society is slowly changing their conservative streik. Step by step
they are adjusting to the evolving cultures of other people. Mostly tackling on lgbt
associated topics. On social media there are fare shares of news and content involving lgbt
community. This is a sensitive topic because social media is large case. One thing that
people do once they wake up is check their phones. They scroll through their feeds and see
if anything new comes to their timeline. Whether it's facebook, twitter, instagram or
snapchat that everyone is checking.
People are looking for something different or unique to cross their state of consciousness
that will awaken their tedious situation. Everyone became dependent with technology to
connect with their loved ones. And while this is somewhat beneficial towards connecting,
others use this as a forrum to voice out their problems. They use these devices to discuss
certain topics about their everyday lives. Social media has evolved into a large industry that
it undeniably became essential to us humans. You will not know anyone without an account
on facebook, even a grandmother knows how to poke nowadays.
Citizens now are actively involved that they even use this medium to broadcast their
opinions and thoughts about the happenings of the world. There are advantages when it
comes to this, mostly is that you get to interact with other people and share your
percpectives. A huge portion of the percentage who are active participants is the youth of
this generation. If you look at it on a positive note, it's a good thing social media was made
to our disposal. It gives alot of benefiet on monitoring the opinions of the masses. We learn
ideas from their thoughts on the matters at hand and somehow without a forrum to
converge in, conversations or discussions became easier. However this opens a gate
towards various scenarios that you can no longer close. It is inevitable that people will
disagree on the viewpoints of others. Even become violent at times. Most likely the topic of
homosexuality. For example we all remember the Orlando Shooting. It caused quite a stirr
to the media and masses and frieghtened gay individuals when they are targeted just by
making themselves known to the public
Nobody truly knows the true story but they have their thoughts on who they think are
responsible andAnd with the use of social media we get to be more involve with other
people and discuss our opinions further. What I am trying to explain is that , yes there is a
positive outcome with discussion but the consequence could lead to terrible cases. Such as
hate crimes, cyberbullying and isolation. You can even be force to resign your work due to
discrimination.
First medium- social networking sites
This tackles a varity of topics that will broaden the topic even further. In the case of
facebook, twitter, instagram and youtube. These are the most visited sites of our time.
2. Discussions are made using social media. Somehow, this is used as a platform to
generalize yourself to the public. Sometimes when a certain individual outs themselves it is
categorized as social suicide for they know what will be the outcome of it. The bashful
tendencies of other individuals, the hateful commentaries of people who are closed minded
and that is only part of the possibility of what could happen. There is even a meme that says
raising a kid under the roof of two homosexuals could lead the child to become a
homosexual as well.
Theory: Counter hegemony
Breaking the norms of the most common perception of other individuals. Philippines is
known as one the most conservative country because of it's religion. It is immoral for others
to legalize Same Sex Marriage for it goes out on everything they believe in. We all
remember when facebook changed its features in the accounts of various profiles,
celebrating the legalization of marriage equality. Others who didn't understand the meaning
only thought it was a cute addition to their profiles but when they understand the true
purpose behind the rainbow colors representing equality, they quickly regret their decisions
for it goes against their moral values.
Second medium- Dating Apps
It is not uncommon to use these types of dating tools in order to keep yourself on the
market. There is a variety of apps to use for your pleasure in finding a date and most
definetly for the gay community but once you do sign up in these sites, you know what you
are asking for. Psychopathic killers with hateful tendencies towards homosexuals even use
this as an opportunity to victimatize the community. And even with no hate crime involved,
once you are caught using these dating apps, you will be judged by other people.
Categorized as a homosexual who brings nothing more than diseases to other people.
People are not aware how difficult it is to find a successful relationship when you're a
homosexual. They are hypersexualized by the church and the mainstream media that they
are quickly given a wicked image that they are afraid to make themselves known to the
public. They are with the choice to succumb to this kind
