• One-Stop Tour (physical or virtual): The goal of the One-Stop tour
is to allow students to experience the range of services available
through the One-Stop system. Before beginning the tour, give
each student a clipboard and a handout (physical tour) or just a
handout (virtual tour) with a series of questions to be answered
appropriate to the goal. For a physical tour, you can also have
them prepare a question, as they did for the workplace tour.
• Career Transition Presentation. Create an AO for your normal
presentation on the local community; use Pair-Share discuss.
Choose Model Notes.
Presentations, continued.

Individual and Group Study
Week One: Day 5 (Friday)
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM - 1
25 minutes
• Week 1 quiz. Because there are many short quizzes, as well as the
Exit Exam, you might want to buy answer cards for this purpose.
You create a “key” and then run the student cards through the
scoring machine; the whole process takes less than 3 minutes.
Generally, the machine is provided free with the purchase of the
cards. See, for example, scantron machines and cards at
www.scantron.com
• You can also use online quiz/test programs, if you have regular
access to computers. This has the advantage of making students very
comfortable with taking tests online, like they do with the TABE. If
you’re correcting quizzes manually, have students write their answers
on a sheet of notebook paper or the back of recycled paper.
• It would be best to choose one system and stick with it.
Weekly Quiz
Week One: Day 5 (Friday)
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM - 2
• Write two more questions for today’s content, for a total of 10
questions. Make 2 forms to discourage cheating by using the list you
have for Form A and mixing the questions around to create Form B.
Put the Form letters on the top of the test, along with a number, e.g.,
B1, B2, B3, etc.
• If you’re not quizzing online, at the top of the answer card or paper,
students will put their name, test Form (A or B), and the test
number. This way you will minimize printing and cheating by
collecting the tests, putting them in numerical order to ensure you
have them all, and using them over again for the next cadre.
.
Weekly Quiz, continued.
Week One: Day 5 (Friday)
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM - 3
• Remind students to start their reflection when they’re done. Pass
out quizzes, monitor, and collect as students are done. Correct while
students are completing their reflection.
• Week 1 reflection:See procedures for Day 1 above.
• Out the door: Remind students to pick up Model Notes for any
session they missed. Have them show you that they completed their
Reflection and then ask them put their binder on the class shelf.
Shake hands on the way out.
.
Weekly Quiz, continued., and Reflection
Week One: Day 5 (Friday)
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM - 4
Week One: Day 5 (Friday)
AFTER HOURS
• Dorm life presentation/activities. Please also remind students that
the Computer Lab is open so they can complete their individual IT
plans this week. Beginning in Week 2, there will be after hours
assignments that will take 1-1.5 hours/evening.
• Open Computer Lab. The Computer Lab will be open continuously
for at least 1 hour in the evening, preferably longer.
