4. INTRODUCTION
In today’s world, a fundamental factor in preparing children for the future is to have them experience
technology in positive and appropriate ways, and understand its impact on their lives. Finding
effective ways to build technology skills is a tremendously time-consuming task.
Our Computer Explorers (CE) Program, provides children with a chance to discover the endless
possibilities technology offers. Technology will play a critical role in the lives of future leaders and
professionals; children must understand how and why technology woks the way it does.
Computer Explorers not only teaches computer application skills, but also provides electric and
mechanical engineering, computer programming, film-making and editing, digital graphic arts, digital
microscopes, software design, robotics and other hands-on experiences. For over twenty years CE
has been providing technology education to children aged three and older across the United States
and internationally. After-school educational programs are in growing demand, as principals
recognize that the children build their math and science skills through exciting program offerings.
With a team of more than 600 technology teachers in the United States, CE teaches over 25,000
students a week and operates sites in the UK, China and Malaysia. Computer Explorers was CREATED
BY EDUCATORS FOR EDUCATORS and will provide an exciting after-school program for your school.
“The day is rapidly approaching when the primary discriminator between the haves and have-nots
will be the division between those who understand technology and those who do not. It will be age,
sex, color, or culture-it will be technology.”
Dan Golden, Former Director of NASA
Presentation to the Senate on Science and Technology

MinecraftEDU Combined Curriculum
Skills: 3D Modeling, Design, Operational Thinking
Thre is no predetermined objective, but Minecraft EDU is a is a version of
the game created specifically for use in schools and educational
programs by the Teacher Gaming community. Computer Explorers has
created it’s own high-standard curriculum to go with it enabling children
to create and sustain their own civilization through problem solving
challenges. Minecraft EDU works best as an integrated element of other
technology courses. Here are our recommended combinations.
MinecraftEDU Robotics
Skills: Mechanical Engineering, Programming, Design
A combined curriculum where children take a class in each course every other week developing skills
in both robotics and Minecraft EDU throughout the duration of the course.
The children work together offline in our own CE Minecraft World hosted securely on our private sever.
They collaborate to survive creating everything themselves from scratch using just the Minecraft
blocks, their mining and crafting talents and their imagination and ingenuity.
Using WeDO 1.0 and 2.0 children learn basic to advanced engineering and programming skills to
develop and control simple machines before moving onto more advanced and complex robotic
creations.
MinecraftEDU Tech & Engineering
Skills: Engineering, Programming, Animation, Design, Robotics
This combined tech program uses MinecraftEDU as a tool to engage students. Our combined
curriculum teaches your child a range of technical and engineering skills that encourages the use of
innate creativity and imagination in a purposeful manner.
Computer Explorers will teach your child Arduino circuit board engineering, video-game design and
animation, green-screen technology, coding and programming and robot building -- all serving to
extend and enhance core academic skills. Each of these skills is then reflected and enhanced in our
private MinecraftEDU world.
Students practice life skills such as collaboration, team work and problem solving while developing
critical thinking, technology skills and confidence in their own ideas. The course culminates in the
creation of a personalized project combining new skills. It is a creative tech class that teaches your
child skills essential to a lifetime of success.

actually make THEIR OWN games and animated stories? Could your
students be the next big game developers? In this course, we give them
the skills to design their favorite console game, develop new elements
and work in teams to create both 2D and 3D working models of Minecraft
and other popular programs.
MinecraftEDU & Android App Development
Skills: Mobile Technolgy, Graphic Design, Programming
This course enables students to become creators of technology, not just
consumers. We are all part of the "creative apps generation". Computer

designing software platform, experiments with editing tools, design backgrounds and invent creative ways
for your character to progress to the next level. Challenge their friends to complete the game first in this
ultimate personalized tech challenge experience.
Level 2
Uplevel to an advanced program that gives tools to create elaborate 3D landscapes, and control the lighting
and camera. Inspired by Minecraft, students select visual tiles for a condition (WHEN) and an action (DO) and
learn about cooperation, logic and creativity, not just about programming. Brainstorming, sharing and
remastering each other’s games, students learn to work like real world game developers.

Case Study 1:
Cranleigh School Abu Dhabi wanted Tech Week to focus on the younger students to truly ignite
an interest and excitement for technology among their littlest learners. We worked closely with
the team at Cranleigh to develop a schedule of activities that suited their littlest learners and
made sure every lesson was designed to extend and enhance what was already being covered
in their computing curriculum at Foundation Stage.
Using our US and UK developed curriculum for preschool+, we delivered a series of hands-on
micro lessons that captivated children and encouraged independence when using technology.
The children in Year 1 and 2 were given more freedom and space for creativity as they were
delivered robotics and green screen film editing workshops where they worked collaboratively
towards an end product.
Case Study 2:
Computer Explorers have worked closely with The British School Al Khubairat for over 2 years.
When we delivered Tech Week at BSAK for Years 2-6, we knew that the students had a strong
background in technology and computing already and so we designed a plan that would excite,
challenge and test their limits. Delivering the Minecraft Technology Expo did just that. With a
range of different Minecraft inspired activities to choose from such as Gaming & Programming,
Digital Forensics, Sound Production and Music Editing, Arduino Circuit Board Engineering and
Extreme Robotics Challenges, students were exposed to a range technology skills that extended
their knowledge in an exciting and competitive way.
