Machine Learning Defined
GPU chipmaker NVIDIA defines machine
learning as "the practice of using algorithms
to parse data, learn from it, and then make a
determination or prediction about something
in the world."
eSports:
● eSports are a form of
competition using video games.
● Most commonly, eSports take
the form of multiplayer video
game competitions, particularly
between professional players.
● The most common video game
genres associated with eSports
are real-time strategy, fighting,
FPS and multiplayer online
battle arena (MOBA).
Notable Tournaments:
● The International(Dota 2)
● League of Legends World
Championship
● Evolution Championship Series
● Intel Extreme Masters(CS:GO,

eSports going
Mainstream:
Global esports revenue will grow
26% by 2020 as it attracts a more
mainstream audience.
This increase will be fueled by a
viewership projected to grow 12%
each year and a swelling number of
third-party investments.
Big Games:
League of Legends attracts more players while Dota 2 draws
higher prize pools
OpenAI vs Best Dota 2 Players:
“OpenAI first ever to defeat world's best players in competitive eSports. Vastly more
complex than traditional board games like chess & Go.”
Elon Musk
This is a step towards building AI systems which accomplish well-defined goals in
messy, complicated situations involving real humans.
eSport growing Audience:
Audience watched over 2.1 billion hours of content between April and
October in 2017, and that number is expected to grow by about 12
percent each year as the industry reaches mainstream audiences.
eSports going
Mainstream:
Advertisers and investors finally
take notice of esports’ access to
key audiences, with contributions
accounting for 85% of the
worldwide market.
Video game companies like Activision
Blizzard, Riot Games and Valve continue to
support their flagship esports titles with
player franchising agreements and larger
prize pools.
Fan.ai:
FanAI is an esports audience data
platform powered by artificial intelligence
to identify and optimize audience
monetization opportunities.
Their system understands each fan,
individually to provide actionable data to
sponsors and brands for advertisement.
FanAI enables esports teams, leagues, game
publishers, event organizers, broadcasters,
agencies, and brands to understand, grow,
predict, and monetize esports audiences by
analyzing purchasing behavior, psychographic
details, and social and demographic
information.
Supremacy:
Supremacy is an AI coach for eSports. It’s AI
will automatically learn your training habits, skill
level and create the perfect training schedule
for you to follow.
Together with an impressive team of scientists
in the fields of HRV (Heart-Rate Variability) and
Neuroscience from the Washington University
of Medicine and UCLA, the team have begun
building 'The Game:BRAIN AI': an all-in-one
artificial intelligence package for budding
esports professionals and players looking for the
most efficient route to better gameplay.
Supremacy:

Future of AI in eSports:
● DeepMind’s AlphaGo used some surprising tactics
while playing against Lee Sedol. People thought
these wouldn’t actually work, but they did. Players
will have to re-think their every move while
playing. Situations like these will give them insight
that might not have been possible.
● CSGO has a ‘6th man’ setup where an observer
advises the players on their strategies. A bot can
instead replace the ‘6th man’, a form of
‘Augmented advising’. Teams will have to augment
the bot’s recommendations into their gameplay.
Teams
● The presence of an in-game coach would be
helpful. It would speed up the process of getting
started on the game and decrease the learning
time.
