Why does it resonate for you?
I have witnessed way too many people in different
towns around the Puget Sound and Seattle area. In
my mind its something impossible to ignore or not
be touched by it. Back in my country, I have seen
my own family living in poverty; worried about
having food on a plate and somewhere to live as
the rent due date came closer… Poverty is not only
seen in the lower class, but also in middle-working
class as the living cost increases, yet salaries do
not.

How can your interest be applied locally?
I think there is a lot we as a community can do to
fight poverty locally…
1. Realize poverty is within our local society
2. Promote awareness

Where can you make the greatest contribution?
I currently work at a juvenile detention center for the
state of Washington. I work with kids that come from all
sorts of backgrounds. The way I can see myself making
a contribution to fight poverty is to educate these young
kids about the issue itself, guide them in a way to be
successful and have a job and continue their education,
take them on trips to help feed the homeless or work a
few hours at a food bank. I personally am grateful for the
times I am able to make donations to charity and feed
and care for the homeless in a parish ministry I am part
of. Little changes may have a great impact on someone
in need. The gratitude in their faces makes all small
efforts seem enormous

Is there a feature of social media that can be uniquely
applied to this goal?
I think any social media is a great tool to educate and
bring awareness of any issue to other people.
Social media can also be a great tool to bring the
community to work together in service projects as a
social movement.

the provision of their products and services
