TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading ideas through conferences and talks on a variety of topics. It began in 1984 focusing on technology, entertainment, and design, and is now a global phenomenon. TEDx events allow for independently organized local TED-style events. 2. What is TED
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It is a platform for
spreading great ideas between conscious people.
It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three
worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.
TED is owned by The Sapling Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation. It
was established in 1996 by Chris Anderson, who was at that time a magazine
publishing entrepreneur.
