  9. 9. Endocannabinoid System + CB1/CB2 Receptors sleep mood appetite memory reproduction and fertility The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex cell-signaling system identified in the early 1990s by researchers exploring THC, a well-known cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are compounds found in cannabis. Experts are still trying to fully understand the ECS. But so far, we know it plays role in regulating a range of functions and processes, including: The ECS exists and is active in your body even if you don’t use cannabis.
  10. 10. Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in plants and some animals. They're responsible for the aromas, flavors, and even colors associated with various types of vegetation. In terms of cannabis, terpenes are what make certain strains smell or taste different from others.
  11. 11. The main hypothesis is that the terpene profile — the dominant terpenes — of a strain work in tandem with the cannabinoid content — the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and other cannabinoids — to produce the effects people associate with different strains.
  12. 12. Cannabinoids are compounds found in cannabis. The most notable cannabinoid is the phytocannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. Cannabidiol (CBD) is another major constituent of the plant. At least 113 distinct cannabinoids have been isolated from cannabis.
  13. 13. POPULAR CANNABINIODS
  14. 14. Health Effects of Particular Cannabinoids Understanding the individual health effects of a particular cannabinoid can help you find the best treatment route for how to pursue cannabis to get the most out of it. For example, we're mostly familiar with CBD and THC, but there is so much more to the unique properties of each of these cannabinoids, so doing research on them and then ultimately trying different cannabinoids and combinations of cannabiniods to see what will work best for your own biochemistry.
  15. 15. Flavonoids are secondary metabolites known for their rich diversity and color in the plant kingdom. The word flavonoid comes from the Latin word “flavus” meaning “blonde” or “yellow,” which describes their most commonly occurring hue. You can find 8000 varieties of flavonoids in almost every plant species, including vegetables, fruits, and herbs. To date, 20 of them have been discovered in the cannabis plant.
  16. 16. Together with other cannabinoids as well as terpenes, flavonoids contribute to a wide spectrum of effects, aromas, and flavors. Flavonoids also have health benefits, but also contribute to the smell, taste, and sensory experience involved when you consume a cannabis strain.
  17. 17. WHAT ARE TERPENES? The aromatic oils found in plants (like fruit and cannabis) that provide the aroma and flavor profile of along with varying medicinal benefits.
