Social networks were not found to be important news sources for the three groups studied. Promoting a more critical and informed public is needed. There is a link between education levels and the quality and quantity of news consumed. Television remains a relevant information source, especially during elections. Public policies should promote media literacy to develop critical thinking. For those with access, skills and critical knowledge of online information can be improved.
