The Denny’s method: caring for people, and the environment
Innovation in fabrics and philosophy
The Denny’s and Le Chef brand names are well known
and respected within the hospitality industry. We are
proud to have introduced the first organic and the
first eco-friendly chef’s jackets that we know of, and
championed anti slip shoe ranges for the kitchen.
We are pleased to have invented many of the fabrics
that our garments are made from, to better satisfy the
requirements of you, our customer. In particular, we
pioneered the manufacturing of kitchen clothing in
lighter weight fabrics with better wear characteristics
AND suitable for commercial laundering. We have
also increased our range of innovative Staycool®
clothing, and the number of chef’s jackets that we
stock in short sleeves.
Colours that cope with the conditions
We ensure that our dyeing meets the robust nature of
the hospitality industry where bleaches are frequently
used in cleaning kitchens, which would damage normally
dyed clothes. We also ensure our dyes will satisfy the
washing conditions of commercial laundries.
Our fabric is safe to wear
We are proud that since 2008, all our
fabric manufacturing has achieved
the Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This
standard evaluates and screens for any harmful
substances present within processed textiles that will
come into contact with consumers. The results of
adopting recognised, environmentally friendly, working
methods such as:
• careful selection of dye stuffs • optimisation of the
dye bath • chlorine free bleaching techniques • low
formaldehyde finishing methods • heavy metal free
materials
- produces products which pose no risk to the consumer.
Working as a partner with our factories
We have long-term
relationships with our
factories and are the
main customer with
each of them. This
gives the factories
the confidence to
invest in specific machinery, in order to manufacture our
products the way we need them. They have also invested
in operating systems so that they can obtain ISO 9001
quality assurance certification.
Respecting human rights
All our factories work to the SA8000 social
accountability principles, which ensure that workers
are treated according to basic human rights. This wide-
ranging standard covers all subjects to ensure fair
working conditions.
Production in the Far East
Our principal site is a
modern factory in the
middle of a busy
town, where some of
the staff live in. There
are many rules in
China governing
minimum age and
length of the working week, which the factory adheres to.
Production in Asia
Manufacturing predominantly for Denny’s Uniforms, this
factory has expanded enormously in the last two years,
thanks to our support
and modernisation.
The factory
specialises in the
production of
clothing for our
market-leading brand
Le Chef, and of our
100% polyester
ranges of uniforms and tablecloths. One of the
appreciated facilities offered to staff here is a taxi service
to take female machinists to and from work.
Production in Europe and UK
Our first foreign manufacturing venture, we have been
producing clothing in Malta for nearly 20 years now. This
multi-talented and multi-tasking factory can create
both tailoring and
workwear, and so has
become our ‘just in
time’ production
facility. The company
who own this factory
are also our
distributors in Malta,
and are the biggest
uniform suppliers on the island.
We have a close relationship with many other
factories around the world, based on mutual respect.
They all support us in our mission to supply the best
quality uniforms at the very best prices to the whole
of the European hospitality industry.
Printed on recycled paper
This catalogue is printed using paper
made of 100% waste paper. This not only
gives good quality, but is also 100%
environment-friendly, because only
recycled fibres are used as raw material.
This saves resources, energy and therefore protects the
environment as well. Their environment management has
been certified as per DIN ISO 14001.

It’s all about how you wear it
Colours
Most of our colours are bleach resistant. They cannot be
accidentally damaged.
Apron Widths
Most of our competitors bib aprons are 28”/72cm wide.
Most of our aprons are 36” /90cm wide.
Fabrics
All are best specification, fully shrunk, robust and mostly
laundry industry usable.
Long Legs
Most of our trousers are stocked in long leg to fit to 6ft 4”.
To illustrate our point we are delighted to use some shots from a young group
of Fashion Media Styling students we are working with. We find it inspirational
to look through their lens and see how our long heritage of catering clothing
can be made relevant to a younger audience. We hope this collaboration will
keep us in tune with our customers.

uniform option. It covers up staff clothing
to make a consistent look. One size fits all,
so it can be pool stock and available to all
staff. It also gives you a large area for
embroidery and badging.

Unless it has an adjustable halter it will not.
Our new patented and registered system
is hidden. It is laundry proof. It also gives
you continuous adjustment, so that waist
tapes will always be smartly on the waist.

Bio-Prep - no chemicals, saves water
Bio-Preparation is an environmentally friendly treatment
of cotton, and its blends, replacing harsh chemical
treatment and thus preserving the cotton structure and
strength. Field trials have established that with Bio-
Preparation, water consumption may be cut as much as
35-50% and the environmental loads are decreased by up
to 40%, when compared to conventional chemical
treatments. This could make a saving of 40 litres of water
per garment.
Bio-Finishing - environmentally harmless
Bio-Finishes are totally biodegradable and harmless to
the environment. In addition, they offer an opportunity to
replace harsh chemicals and unsustainable processes with
more environmentally friendly methods, saving water,
time and energy.
A vegetarian equivalent to ivory
The Corozo or Tagua nut is remarkably similar to animal
ivory, and is made from the dried, polished nuts of several
palms in South America. With the growing consciousness
of the environmental process, use of the Tagua nut has
been renewed, replacing plastic – and elephant ivory.
Ultra-low carbon emission manufacture
Yarn produced, fabric woven, and garment made all within
5 miles of each other. Minimal finishing of cloth to reduce
energy consumption. No oil products used in garment.

Le Chef Stud Fastening Tunic
This modern, drop-shoulder tunic made from 50/50
cotton polyester premium fabric is now the market
leader in its style. It has a separate cuff facing with
cuff vent, a double pen pocket on the left sleeve,
back yoke and a pleated front fastened by three
studs – which will wrap over both left and right.
All seams twin needled.
