In part 3 of the speaking test, the examiner will ask you
questions related to the topic introduced in part 2. These
questions are designed to check your ability to discuss more
abstract issues and ideas.
There are some common patterns to the questions that come
up in part 3 of the speaking test. Knowing these patterns will
make you much more confident in this part of the test.
This will also allow you to practice some grammatical
structures and phrases which you can use to talk about
situations common in this part.
 Common question types in IELTS
Speaking test part 3 are:
 (1) Questions asking for your opinion.
 (2) Questions asking you to give reasons for something.
 (3) Questions asking for details.
 (4) Questions asking you to agree/disagree.
 (5) Questions asking you to make a comparison with the past.
 (6) Questions asking you to compare - highlight differences and similarities.
 (7) Questions asking you to predict about the future.
 (8) Questions about imaginary or unreal situations - Hypothetical.
 (9) Questions asking for possible solutions.
 (10) Questions asking to give some advantages/disadvantages.

These questions are designed to check your ability to discuss more abstract issues and ideas. There are some common patterns to the questions that come up in part 3 of the speaking test. Knowing these patterns will make you much more confident in this part of the test. This will also allow you to practice some grammatical structures and phrases which you can use to talk about situations common in this part.
