The Philippines
The Philippine Islands became a Spanish colony during the 16th century. They were ceded to the United States in 1898
following the Spanish-American War. In 1935 the Philippines became a self-governing commonwealth. In 1942 the
islands fell under Japanese occupation during World War II, and US forces and Filipinos fought together during
1944-45 to regain control. On 4 July 1946 the Republic of the Philippines attained its independence from the
United States.Philippine culture is a combination of Eastern and Western cultures and also displays a
significant amount of Spanish and American influences. Filipino and English are the official languages.
Filipino is a standardized version of Tagalog, spoken mainly in Metro Manila and other urban regions.
Both Filipino and English are used in government, education, print, broadcast media, and business.
HELP is located in two of The Philippines’ best cities Baguio and Clark. Baguio is the
summer capital of the country. It is the most conducive city for education in the world
and ideal for rest and recreation for local and foreign tourists. Clark is a former US
military base and has modern infrastructure facilities, professional support
services and other amenities. HELPClark is located three minutes away from
Clark InternationalAirport.

•You can directly go to Martin’s from Korea if you pass the phone interview. The interview is conducted every Tuesday, 2-3pm (Korean Time). A teacher will give the test
and you will get the results the same day. Applicants with TOEFL and TOEIC still need to undergo and interview and they have to submit their application in our HELP
branches in Busan or Seoul.
•Students from Longlong and Clark who want to go to Martin’s need to take the qualifying test on the 3rd week of the program. Level 6-9 students from Clark don’t need
to take the test.
•Students pay the test cost for the mock test for IELTS and the Cambridge Test. The TOEFL mock test is free.

teach English as a second/foreign language at a number of dif-
ferent levels. The program covers a number of different ESL/
EFL philosophies and approaches to teaching and attempts
to discuss them in relation to current and relevant contexts. It
aims to teach the trainee teachers to develop and adapt mate-

dent, creative and lexible teachers.
Translation and Interpretation (DTI)
It is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skill for bilin-
gual individuals to pursue their professional career as transla-
tor and interpreter. Graduates of the course will have the nec-
essary skills to begin their career in the said ield as they will
be able to approach English in a new perspective. A valuable
experience earned from DTI program will become a great as-
