  3. 3. What is Journalism ● Journalism is a contemporary report of the changing scene intended to inform readers of what is happening around them. In the modern times, Journalism has been turned into a business and an industry.
  4. 4. “journalism is storytelling with a purpose. That purpose is to provide people with information they need to understand the world The first challenge is Finding the information that people need to live their lives. The second is to make it meaningful , relevant, and engaging “.
  5. 5. Types of Journalism
  6. 6. Advocacy journalism ● Advocacy journalism deals with writing to advocate particular viewpoints or influence the opinions of the audience. It also deserves the use of Journalism techniques to promote a specific political or social cause.
  7. 7. Broadcast Journalism ● Journalism which is the field of news and journals which are broadcast or in other words we can say that it is published by electrical methods, instead of the other method such as printed newspapers and poster. For Example :- Radio, Television
  8. 8. Investigative journalism ● Journalism that tries to discover information of public interest that someone is trying to hide. It also includes serious crimes, political corruption or corporate wrongdoing.

Tabloid Journalism ● Tabloid Journalism is a newspaper of small format giving the news is condensed from, usually with illustrated often sensational material It puts more stress on crime stories, astrology, gossip columns about the personal lives of celebrities and sports stars and Junk food news.
  10. 10. Yellow Journalism ● Yellow Journalism is also known as sensationalism and it is writing which emphasizes exaggerated claims or rumors. Yellow Journalism which highlights little or no legitimate well - researched news and instead uses eye catching headlines to sell more newspapers.

Role of Television ● Television was introduced in 1959 it had to prove its role in the development of Journalism. ● First Tv broadcast in September 1959 us part of all India radio services. ● Programs broadcast twice a week for 1 hour per day. ● Programs related to the development and social issues awareness on health and citizen rights related issues. ● In 1961 the broadest were expected to include a school Educational Television projects.
  12. 12. Television in India ● India has various cultures, religions and traditions. Therefore, medium like Tv can play a vital role in developing common understanding with the people and bring them closer. Like movies, Tv reinforces ideas, Beliefs. ● Tv attracts the largest number of viewers ‘. Its audience is greater in size than any of the other media audience. This is because of all age groups, whether literate or illiterate.
  13. 13. Continue… ● In 1975. Mrs. Indira Gandhi clamped an internal emergency. The government during this time suppressed transmission of new by imposing censorship on newspapers, Journals, Radio, TV, telex, telegrams, news agencies and on foreign correspondents. Even teleprompter services were subjected to precensorship. The censorship waa total and unparalleled in the history of tv journalism in india.

Continue… ● The educational and developmental programs were blamed up to the satellite from earth station set up in Ahmedabad and Delhi and were broadcast towerds India using the high power transmitter and the large antenna aboard ATS - 6 these programs were received in about 2400 villages in six different states of India.
  15. 15. Conclusion Journalism as one part of mass communication and Midia studies. Journalism is the Practice of investigation and reporting of event issues and treands to a bread audience in a timely fashion. During the last 50 years television is one of the greatest inventions of the scientific world has contributed immensely to the development of mankind. It has brought people of different countries and regions closer to each other, enabling them to learn about the culture and traditions flourishing in different part of the world journalism.
