Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
This stand-alone module in TLE (HOME ECONOMICS) is intended for
distance learning modality. Learners who could not afford online or face-to-face
learning can utilize this module. It includes a learner-friendly pretest, self-check
exercises, additional activities, and other learning instructions intended to help
learners learn even teachers and learner are geographically remote from each other.
This covers topics in Grade 6 in the 1st Quarter with corresponding learning activities
for learners to achieve the most essential learning competencies and lesson
objectives. Moreover, each exercise in this module is designed for independent
learning and practice. However, ensure that the learners’ parents, elder siblings,
guardians or relatives at home will guide and support them as they accomplish its
given tasks.
Furthermore, explain to students that taking the tests diligently will allow them
to learn their lessons for their academic progress. Most importantly, remind them to
answer the given activities on a separate answer sheet and handle this module with
utmost care.
For the learner:
This learner-friendly module in TLE is specially designed for your learning
needs and progress. Your patience and dedication in reading and answering its
learning exercises will help you successfully cope with lessons. You are free to ask
assistance from your teachers, parents, siblings, friends, and family members whom
you think can help you best. Read each lesson carefully and follow the instructions
for your activities after reading.
Remember to answer the given exercises in a separate sheet of paper. When
you are done, kindly return it to your teacher to check and evaluate your level of
competency.

Hi Guys ! How are you ? I have some questions for you. How well does your
family take care of your resources at home? Does your mother prepare a schedule of
activities for the whole family? Does every member follow what is on the schedule?
What happens when a home is well-managed? Or poorly managed?

Elements in Resource Management
1. Values – are basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or
actions. They help us to determine what is important to us. These are what you
cherish the most and what you consider as desirable or import.
2. Goals – is an idea of the future or desired result that a person or a group of
people envision , plan and commit to achieve. Goals can be implied or definite.
3. Decisions – they are your conclusions or judgements about a particular issue or
matter. Decision-making involves choosing between two or more options.
Directions : Write T on the blank if the statement is true , and write F if the
statement is false.

resources.
______ 2. A family should not set goals to have an effective budgeting and
management of family resources.
______ 3. In saving and implementing house rules, the important thing is to be

Family Resources - are things , ideas or qualities possessed by an individual or a
family. It can be used by the family to cope with difficult situations; these include
social, cultural, religious, economic and medical resources. These can also be in the
form of services or properties used to produce goods and services that meets the
needs and wants of man.
Classification of Family Resources :
1. Human Resources are qualities of family members that contribute to their
overall well being. Human resources are developed through education, skills,
attitude, knowledge, energy, and time. These are resources found within
yourself and from family friends and other people who provide you with
support.

2. Nonhuman or material resources – are tangible family resources that are
available to you for usage. It include money, land, community facilities, salary,
rent, goods, house, car and household equipment.
3. Non- material Resources
Time, health and experience are intangible resources but are also important. Without
non- material resources, family members will be unable to perform their duties and
responsibilities well at home, in school and at work.
Time - is very important. This is the resource that motivates cooperation,
fulfilment of the prescribed duties and smart maintenance of homes.
Health- of the family members is very important. When family members are in
good health they can perform their duties without delay. Health indeed is wealth.
Experience- The more experience a family member has, the more likely he or
she will get hired and be paid good amount for his or her services.

Good management of family resources means using the human and
nonhuman resources of the household in attaining the family goals or goals of each
family member. Family resources can be classified into ____________,

goals the family has set.
In managing our family resources is very ___________
in order to attain the family’s goal or the goals of each family member. It needs the

  • 4. iv Introductory Message For the facilitator: This stand-alone module in TLE (HOME ECONOMICS) is intended for distance learning modality. Learners who could not afford online or face-to-face learning can utilize this module. It includes a learner-friendly pretest, self-check exercises, additional activities, and other learning instructions intended to help learners learn even teachers and learner are geographically remote from each other. This covers topics in Grade 6 in the 1st Quarter with corresponding learning activities for learners to achieve the most essential learning competencies and lesson objectives. Moreover, each exercise in this module is designed for independent learning and practice. However, ensure that the learners’ parents, elder siblings, guardians or relatives at home will guide and support them as they accomplish its given tasks. Furthermore, explain to students that taking the tests diligently will allow them to learn their lessons for their academic progress. Most importantly, remind them to answer the given activities on a separate answer sheet and handle this module with utmost care. For the learner: This learner-friendly module in TLE is specially designed for your learning needs and progress.   • 7. 2 Elements in Resource Management 1. Values – are basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions. They help us to determine what is important to us. These are what you cherish the most and what you consider as desirable or import. 2. Goals – is an idea of the future or desired result that a person or a group of people envision , plan and commit to achieve. Goals can be implied or definite. 3. Decisions – they are your conclusions or judgements about a particular issue or matter. Decision-making involves choosing between two or more options. Directions : Write T on the blank if the statement is true , and write F if the statement is false. ______ 1. Your talent can be used to help you make effective use of your basic resources. ______ 2. A family should not set goals to have an effective budgeting and management of family resources. ______ 3. In saving and implementing house rules, the important thing is to be consistent. _______4. It is okay to spend money for movie houses, family picnic and other recreation as long as there is excess savings for this. ______ 5. Management is not part of family living Family Resources - are things , ideas or qualities possessed by an individual or a family. It can be used by the family to cope with difficult situations; these include social, cultural, religious, economic and medical resources. These can also be in the form of services or properties used to produce goods and services that meets the needs and wants of man. Classification of Family Resources : 1. Human Resources are qualities of family members that contribute to their overall well being. Human resources are developed through education, skills, attitude, knowledge, energy, and time. These are resources found within yourself and from family friends and other people who provide you with support.
  • 9. 4 2. Nonhuman or material resources – are tangible family resources that are available to you for usage. It include money, land, community facilities, salary, rent, goods, house, car and household equipment. 3. Non- material Resources Time, health and experience are intangible resources but are also important. Without non- material resources, family members will be unable to perform their duties and responsibilities well at home, in school and at work. Time - is very important. This is the resource that motivates cooperation, fulfilment of the prescribed duties and smart maintenance of homes. Health- of the family members is very important. When family members are in good health they can perform their duties without delay. Health indeed is wealth. Experience- The more experience a family member has, the more likely he or she will get hired and be paid good amount for his or her services.
