Dr. Sedeno completed his residency at R.E. Thomason General Hospital, El Paso, Texas. In July 1980 he started a private practice office in Alief, Texas. He later joined Cigna Health Plans as Primary Care Physician (Part Time) and worked in this capacity until 1983. From 1985 to 1995, he served as the Principal of West Houston Family Practice Associates, P.A. and President of West Houston Family HealthCare Associates in 1996.

A former family physician, Heriberto Sedeno, M.D. is a dedicated
and highly qualified individual, with 30 years of experience delivering
direct patient care. He was born in Havana, Cuba where he attended
elite educational institutions to pursue his primary and secondary
education. He left Cuba in 1962 to Miami, Florida as part of the Pedro
Pan Program.
This program under the auspices of the Catholic Welfare Bureau in
Miami provided care to 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban children to
settle and continue their education until they could be reunited with
their parents. While in Miami, Dr. Sedeno graduated from
Matecumbe High School which was run by the Christian Brothers of
La Salle.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (Biology Major) from the
University of St. Thomas, Houston in 1969 and thereafter attended
the University of Zaragoza, School of Medicine, Spain to obtain his
Doctor of Medicine degree (1975).

Dr. Sedeno besides holding leadership positions in the
medical community continued direct care of a diverse patient
base. He is very proud to have served the Hispanic community
in particular.
Dr. Sedeno teaching of running a family practice to new
associate physicians occupied part of his health care delivery.
He negotiated the sale of his practice in 2007, and continued to
practice until he retired one year later..

During his career, Dr. Sedeno has been associated with many
professional organizations, including Harris County Medical
Society, Harris County Academy of Family Physicians, Texas
Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Medical Association,
American Academy of Family Physicians and Texas Academy of
Family Physicians.
Dr. Sedeno was affiliated to the West Houston Medical Center
and was a respected member of Credential Committee (1995 to
1996), Utilization Management Committee (1993-94),
Emergency Room Committee (1989) and Medical Executive
Committee (1988). Moreover, he also held the positions of
Chief, Family Practice Department (1987), and Secretary of
Executive Committee (1990).
5. Certifications
Fluent in Spanish and French, . Sedeno obtained many
certifications including ECFMG or Educational Commission for
Foreign Medical Graduates (1976), license in Medicine and
Surgery (February 1977), Diplomate American Board of Family
Practice (1979) and Specialty Certification in Family Practice
(1979 to 1986) which was later re-certified (1994 to 2001).
Dr. Sedeno's professional appointments include Medical
Director at HispaMed IPA, founding member of West Houston
IPA, and Texas Health Plan HMO, Credentials Committee.
