2. Arterial supply:
It is by the branches of abdominal aorta.
Abdominal aorta:
Your aorta is the large artery at the end of your heart's aortic valve. It carries
oxygen-rich blood away from your heart to the rest of your body. It travels through your
chest, where it's called the thoracic aorta, and into your abdomen, where it's called the
abdominal aorta.
3.
4. Branches of Abdominal aorta:
There are lots of branches of abdominal aorta originating from different levels
of vertebrae.
Anterior Branches:
Lateral Branches:
Dorsal branches:
Terminal branches:
5.
6. THESE BRANCHES SPECIALLY SUPPLY BLOOD TO OUR GUT.
THE PART OF THE ALIMENTARY CANAL BETWEEN THE STOMACH AND
THE ANUS.
7.
8. Coeliac Trunk:
Origin Abdominal aorta at the level of the 12th thoracic
vertebra
Branches Left gastric, common Hepatic and Splenic arteries
Supplies Foregut of the gastrointestinal tract
9. Left Gastric Artery:
The left gastric artery gives off esophageal branches
and supplies the upper right portions of the fundus
and body of the stomach, as well as the distal
esophagus
Splenic artery: Branches
The splenic artery is one of the three branches of the
celiac trunk, which supplies the spleen as well
as large parts of the stomach and pancreas.
Left
Gastroepiploi
c artery
Short
Gastric
Artery
10. Common Hepatic Artery:
Supplies blood to the liver, pylorus of the
stomach ,duodenum, pancreas, and
gallbladder.
Branches:
Gastroduodenal artery:
Pylorus of the stomach, superior part of the duodenum, the head of the pancreas.
Proper Hepatic Artery:
Left and right lobes of the liver, the gallbladder and part of the stomach.
11. Superior pancreatic duodenal artery :
supplies blood to the duodenum and pancreas.
Right Gastroepiploic artery:
pylorus of the stomach
Left Hepatic Artery:
Left lobe of liver
Right Hepatic Artery:
Right lobe of liver as well as middle part of the common bile duct.
Cystic artery :
Gallbladder
12. Superior mesenteric Artery:
It supply blood to midgut.
Origin:
Arising anteriorly from the abdominal aorta at
level of L1, usually just below the celiac trunk
Second half of duodenum
jejunum , ilium , caecum ,
appendix , Ascending colon ,
Transverse colon(proximal
2/3)
13. Branches and blood supply:
The superior mesenteric artery has several branches that send blood to various parts of the
GI tract. The branches include the:
Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery:
Head of the pancreas and the duodenum.
Middle colic artery:
Transverse colon, the longest part of the large intestine.
Right colic artery:
Beginning part of the colon that travels up the right side of the stomach.
Jejunal and ileal arteries:
Jejunum and part of ileum
Ileocolic artery:
Appendix, part of the ileum and cecum
14.
15. INFERIOR MESENTERIC ARTERY:
Origin Abdominal aorta at level of L3
Branches Left colic, Sigmoid, Superior rectal arteries
Supplies Left third of transverse colon, descending
colon, sigmoid colon, rectum
