is a story about the lives of six people working in a call centre searching
for true happiness and towards the end of the book we can see how “God”
comes to rescue each one of them which leads into a major
transformation of everyone’s life. We also see the downfall in some of
characters life.
 The book has won the national best-selling award in India Chetan
Bhagat is seen as the voice of a younger generation in India rather
than an author. The book has won the national best-selling award in
India and has also resulted in a huge blockbuster movie. One Night
@ the Call Center is a novel written by Chetan Bhagat and first
published in 2005.
 The novel revolves around a group of six call center employees
working at the Connexons call center in Gurgaon, Haryana, India.
The book was the second best-selling novel from the award. Chetan
said that his ex- boss gave him inspiration and thanked him in this
book. “I chose to tell the story through Shyam ’s eyes. This is
because, after I met him, I found him the most similar to me as a
person. "Chetan ends the book by saying that the person who told
the story to him was GOD.
 The book begins with a frame story/ prologue which recounts a train journey from Kanpur to
Delhi. The narrating author meets a beautiful girl. She offered to tell the author a story on the
condition that he has to make it his second book. The story was about six people working in a call
center. One night they got a phone-call from God within the story, which comprises the bulk of
the book, relates the events that happen one night at a call Centre.
 Story told through the eyes of the protagonist, Shyam, it is a story of almost lost love, thwarted
ambitions, absence of family affection and pressures of a patriarchal set up. Shyam loves but has
lost Priyanka, who is now planning an arranged marriage with another; Vroom loves Esha. Esha
wants to be a model, Radhika is in an unhappy marriage with a demanding mother-in-law, and
the Military Uncle wants to talk to his grandson; they all hate Bakshi, their cruel and somehow
sadistic boss. Shyam Mehra as the narrator and protagonist, who is one among the six call center
employees featured. A phone call from God is one of the salient features in the novel. All the lead
characters of the novel decide to go and enjoy themselves at a nightclub. After enjoying it for a
while, they leave for the office.
Continue…
 While returning, they face a life-threatening situation and they start to
panic. They are unable to call for help as there is no mobile phone
network at that place, but Shyam's mobile phone starts ringing.
 The phone call is from God, who speaks modern English. The
conversation with God motivates the group to such an extent that they get
ready to face their problems with utmost determination and motivation.
When they emerge from danger, they have clear-cut goals in their mind.
On returning to the call center, they carry out their plans with dexterity. A
book ends with an epilogue where a girl ends the story and provides an
alternative to tell the story from a logical way by Military Uncle and
suddenly disappears as a mysterious girl. The novel is open ended as it
does not end in a clear way.

10) How text
shape us
Continue…
 Hypothetical it is said and believe that literature makes people better,
literature enhances over life skills literature makes us humbles more mature
in terms of psychology. Books are available on the internet and few of us
could actually read it. No need to purchase a book . The thing to do was
to connect a good network for downloading books. Our problems started
when text bored us to read continuously through one device which
diverted our mind like a phone. We take print of text some time and read
it. When we looked at a particular novel one night at the call center. One
night at the call center is a book by Chetan bhagat. Chetan Bhagat is a
very popular author. We read many write-ups about Chetan Bhagat.
Nowadays there is no need to purchase newspapers but we have
subscribed to them on the internet.
Continue…
 How could we function without our common language? We were the
language before the language was ours. We can easily understand
Chetan Bhagat's language. He is a good writer of novels. That text gives
life lessons "self help book" means it to self improvement and self
confidence of characters. It gives solutions to problems and is helpful for
building personal philosophy. Text gives lessons that the author has
changed the Indian English fiction and inaugurated a new era of Indian
novels to represent the realities of life of youngsters. And youngsters love
and career. Text is basically a call to India and to the young generation
surrounded by it. It visibly examined how globalization has affected the
call center employer in the name of raising the financial systems. Text gives
life skills that we want to earn more and more money in their life.
Continue…
 The youth of today has been commonly outclassed; we do not consider
themselves to be too young to be pampered, and we are not supposed
to be old enough to take duty on their own shoulders. Emotion is
responsible for many types of disease. Negative emotions like stress,
tension, anger, fear, greed, jealousy give rise to somatic illness where on
the other hand positive emotions like love, compassion, friendship,
affection etc. give the strength to combat the stress. Illness due to
negative emotions includes hyper acidity, hypertension, insomnia,
menstrual disturbances, loss of appetite etc.

  • 35. Continue…  from both movie and novel is quite same like….  She {GOD} calmly answered like god and Disappear .  We find in both like there is many similarities and less Differences.  As the Director make film than the must required element is entertainment.  Some Item songs and comic way as well  So according to that factor some differences we can see.  But the main aspect is that we reached at the moral of the story to enjoy the both movie and Book.
  • 37. Continue…  Hypothetical it is said and believe that literature makes people better, literature enhances over life skills literature makes us humbles more mature in terms of psychology. Books are available on the internet and few of us could actually read it. No need to purchase a book . The thing to do was to connect a good network for downloading books. Our problems started when text bored us to read continuously through one device which diverted our mind like a phone. We take print of text some time and read it. When we looked at a particular novel one night at the call center. One night at the call center is a book by Chetan bhagat. Chetan Bhagat is a very popular author. We read many write-ups about Chetan Bhagat. Nowadays there is no need to purchase newspapers but we have subscribed to them on the internet.
  • 38. Continue…  How could we function without our common language? We were the language before the language was ours. We can easily understand Chetan Bhagat's language. He is a good writer of novels. That text gives life lessons "self help book" means it to self improvement and self confidence of characters. It gives solutions to problems and is helpful for building personal philosophy. Text gives lessons that the author has changed the Indian English fiction and inaugurated a new era of Indian novels to represent the realities of life of youngsters. And youngsters love and career. Text is basically a call to India and to the young generation surrounded by it. It visibly examined how globalization has affected the call center employer in the name of raising the financial systems. Text gives life skills that we want to earn more and more money in their life.
  • 39. Continue…  The youth of today has been commonly outclassed; we do not consider themselves to be too young to be pampered, and we are not supposed to be old enough to take duty on their own shoulders. Emotion is responsible for many types of disease. Negative emotions like stress, tension, anger, fear, greed, jealousy give rise to somatic illness where on the other hand positive emotions like love, compassion, friendship, affection etc. give the strength to combat the stress. Illness due to negative emotions includes hyper acidity, hypertension, insomnia, menstrual disturbances, loss of appetite etc.
