How our film appealed to female audiences aged 16-20
1. How did you attract/address
your audience?
&
Who would be the audience for
your media product?
2. The audience who responded the best
to our Media project -
It seemed that the females of
around 20 seemed to enjoy our
film the most. This could be due
to the fact that we’re 0-20
females so we made a film that
would appeal to us and that
target audience.
3. I think our film was so popular
with that audience because of
the many relatable objects we
have used (most of the time
subtly but not always). Things
such as friendship, revising
and religion.
4. Friendship.
Friendship is one of the most relatable aspects to our film especially to females as girl’s
tend to form friendship groups with one girl (who they call their best friend) being the
person they trust the most. They’ll also relate to having someone from the outside
intrude into the friendship (I'm assuming. Not to sound stereotypical but most girl’s will
have experienced the feeling of jealousy when another girl is introduced into their
friendship group. It happens.) This would also successfully establish Esther as the villain
of the film because people will feel hostile feelings towards her as her intrusion will
surface old feelings of jealousy they may have experienced.
5. Revision.
Something teenagers of around our age group (16-17) will be able
to relate to is that Jess is revising for school/or doing homework.
It’s never established which she is doing but the jist is clear. This is
relatable to all teens because of work they have to do in
School/College/University especially now with Exam week coming
up.
6. Religion.
I wasn’t sure whether to mention this point or not but I'm going to because it
may be valid. The only religion we’ve shown within our piece is Satanism
however that may make our film relatable/appealing to...well Satanists.
However it may have the opposite effect on Christians because they don’t
appreciate Satanism (which makes sense). Some may even be offended by
our use of the satanic ritual and demonic signifiers.
