2.  Dental cavities is a microbial infectious
disease
characterized by demineralization of the
inorganic and destruction of the organic
substance of the tooth

3.  Abrasives: Removes plaque,stians,polish teeth
Eg: alumina, hydrated silica, dicalcium phosphate,
calcium carbonate, and sodium bicarbonate .
 Coloring Agents:visual appeal to toothpaste
eg: red, green , blue.Titanium dioxide is used tomake
toothpaste white
 Detergents:used to removes such as oil and water.
 Flavoring: is used to improve the taste of toothpaste.
eg:cinnamon, menthol & peppermint.
 Preservatives: are used to prevent the growth of
microorganisms in the toothpaste.
eg: sodium benzoate, methyl paraben, and ethyl paraben.

eg:xylitol, calcium or sodium saccharin.
 Fluoride: works to prevent decay of tooth enamel.This
makes teeth more resistant to acids produce by plaque
bacteria.
