With traditional logic, to make a profit selling this car, you would need to buy it for a lower price than you agree to sell it

Imagine what would happen if you purchased this car for $50,000 and BMW announces suddenly that their manufacturing facility was destroyed

The market price on this car surges to $60,000

In this case, you can now get $10,000 profit

Conversely, you make a contract to sell this car before you actually own it (sell high first)

You then would need to go out and buy a car for less than you are contracted to sell it (buy low at a later time)
