  5. 5. Of course we all know you “An elderly man who regularly visited his ATB branch was losing mobility in his hands. Every time he made his signature it was long and painful, but he was proud to be independent. I wanted to offer help, but knew it would embarrass or offend him, so instead I told him that his initials would also work. He responded, “it’s because you all know me, right?”. Now he is even more proud to be a regular and he can sign papers quickly on his own.” You’re a pioneer! “When we first got our U.S. MasterCards I knew a customer who would want one immediately, and they were one of the first. However, after I sold it and looked for answers to their many questions, I realized that we didn’t have the answers to every scenario yet. They had a trip to Vegas coming up immediately, so I decided to make them the pioneers of the MasterCard. They tried a variety of charges and scenarios, and I waived any fees that came from it. I recorded the results to understand how the new U.S. MasterCard worked for the next customers who wanted one.”
