3. Codestream Laser Markable Coating
For your packaging marking and identification
requirements. Today there are several choices to
mark variable on-demand information to labels
and packaging.
The marks placed on products and packaging
needs to be stable, machine readable and
unalterable. Most technologies used to write
these codes have some drawbacks and lead to
rejects, machine downtime, or expensive
consumable costs as well as loss of product
integrity.
Now there is a reliable, quick alternative that
marks products with a low wattage CO2 laser.
This solution is a translucent, water-based laser
markable coating that produces a high-
quality mark when exposed to the beam of a
low powered laser. No VOC's, solvents or
airborne particulates are released on the
packaging line.
UDAFormaxx
The UDAFormaxx off-line coding station is a
robust stand-alone unit for automatic feeding
and marking of all kinds of flat products. It is the
ideal compact and flexible system for coding of
sleeves, cartons blanks, boxes, watch straps,
bags, blister cards, labels and single sheets,
separate from the production line.
It has a short set-up time, easy handling and
high reliability, and can be used with all of KBA
Metronic marking and coding systems. Expiry
dates, lot, batch numbers, time, incremental
numbering, barcodes, data matrix etc. are all
marked with ease.
The udaFormaxx can be used with all KBA-
Metronic marking and coding devices, including:
·Hot Stamping Devices
·Inline Thermal Transfer Printers
·Continuous Inkjet AlphaJet
·Label Applicators and coding systems
Hot Foil Coding Systems
Whenever top printing quality is demanded, the
hot foil process often delivers the best, easiest
and most favorable solutions for product
marking.
The print adheres to almost all substrates,
including paper, cardboard, plastics, foils,
leathers, textiles etc. It is smudge and scratch
resistant to environmental influences.
Products can be processed further immediately
after printing without any loss of time.

4. Green Wavelength Lasers
This laser is a fiber-coupled, diode-pumped,
solid-state green wavelength laser, which
creates high beam quality and laser stability. It
offers extra power and speed for precision
marking and is the ideal choice for laser marking,
scribing, trimming and other material processing
applications. It has an average diode life of more
than 100,000 working hours and offers best-in-
class reliability.
The robust mechanical and optical design
enables operation in an industrial environment,
where shock, vibration and dust are a concern.
The key features of the green wavelength
laser include:
Ÿ Longest focal tolerance
Ÿ High-quality and high-speed marking
Ÿ It is able to mark materials that other
lasers can't
Ÿ Marks a wide range of materials including
most metals and plastics
Ÿ No consumables are required
Ÿ Minimal maintenance is required
Ÿ Air cooled

CO Lasers2
The CO laser, otherwise known as the carbon
dioxide laser, was one of the earliest gas lasers
developed and is to date, one of the more
commonly used. These lasers are the highest-
power, continuous wave lasers that are currently
available, running on a wavelength of 10,600nm.
These lasers are used primarily for marking
organic materials and are also able to cut
through various materials such as acrylics,
papers, fabrics, etc.

The key features of the CO laser include:
Ÿ Available in various wattages
Ÿ Lowest initial cost compared to other types of
lasers
Ÿ Air cooled
Ÿ Marks various substrates including plastics,
Fiber Lasers
A fiber laser is a laser in which the active gain
medium is an optical fiber, doped with rare-earth
elements. In layman's terms, it is a type of solid-
state laser, where the laser light passes through
the fiber, amplifying it to create a high-quality
beam, which enables marking. Running on
1060 - 1080nm, this reliable technology is
designed to withstand the vigors of a production
environment and is best suited to continuous
production environments.
The key features of the fiber lasers include:
Ÿ Marks a wide range of materials including
most metals and plastics
Ÿ No consumables are required
Ÿ Minimal maintenance is required
Ÿ Smallest footprint in any laser technology
Ÿ Air cooled
Ÿ Can be mounted in any orientation
Lasers
woods, leather, glass and even metals
(with the assistance of an additive)
Ÿ High quality and high speed marking
Ÿ No consumables are required
Ÿ Minimal maintenance is required
5. Vanadate Lasers
The term vanadate laser is usually used for
lasers based on neodymium-doped vanadate
crystals. These lasers run on a wavelength of
1064nm, which is the same as Nd: YAG. Despite
this similarity, vanadate lasers are renowned for
doing the better quality of marks due to their
small accurate spot size. With an average diode
life of greater than 25,000 working hours and low
replacement cost, these lasers offer the user
best-in-class reliability, with low cost of
ownership.
The key features of the vanadate lasers include:
Ÿ Marks a wide range of materials including
most metals and plastics
Ÿ High-quality beam diameter and movement
Ÿ Higher peak power allows for marking onto
uneven surfaces
Ÿ Air cooled
Ÿ No consumables are required
Ÿ Can be mounted in any orientation
Ÿ Easy to integrate
Ÿ Available in a variety of wattages
Nd:YAG Lasers
Nd:YAG is the acronym for yttrium aluminum
garnet (YAG) and is a synthetic crystal material
which became popular in the form of laser
crystals in the 1960s.
With a frequency of 1064nm, like the
vanadate lasers, they produce high
quality, high-speed marking on a
variety of substrates. The Nd:YAG
laser is a good alternative to
traditional marking systems because
of its flexibility and minimal
maintenance requirements.
The key features of the Nd:YAG laser
includes:
Ÿ Marks metals, plastics, foils and
ceramics
Ÿ Easy to integrate into production lines
Ÿ Highly flexible
Ÿ Minimal maintenance required
Ÿ Thermo-electrical air cooling systm comes
standard with the machine

Product traceability is becoming more and more
an industry standard, especially when it comes
to products that are ingested. Ensuring that each
product is uniquely identified and tracked from
production to consumption by consumer is
critical for manufacturers to manage the quality
of their products, establish accountability for
products made, control process from
manufacture to retailer, identify sources of
contamination in the supply chain, gain business
intelligence to improve efficiency and delivery
and protect their brand.
Tracepack can provide a turnkey solution for
product traceability including, uniquely identify
the product through various marking
technologies, verify the mark or code, custom
build software for your unique traceability
requirements, process consulting from end to
end, provide the right scanners and integrate
into any production line.
This value added service means that you do
not need to deal with multiple suppliers when
integrating marking, labelling or coding
equipment into your production line, thereby
saving you the hassle, money and time.
What is more is that we try to ensure that we
maintain or improve efficiency in your
production line and we only use good quality
products as raw materials.
