Upon completion of Part 1, students will be able to:
1. Explain how the Irish PAYE system works and the role of the payroll operator.
2. Outline the structure of Government Departments.
3. Identity and define terms associated with the PAYE system
4. Compare and contrast the different types of payments and payment types.
5. Compare and contrast the different types of deductions and deduction types.
6. Explain the difference between Pension types and how they apply to payroll.
7. Explain how the minimum wage operates and the entitlements for employees.

On completion of Part 1, you must successfully complete a final assessment. We also

completing the final assessment.
The Part 1 assessment can include the following question types; Multiple choice, Fill in the
gap, drag and drop, free text and/or randomized which you have 30 minutes to complete.
Please Note: A pass rate of 60% is required. Two attempts are allowed.
