PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
9/12– Present: Fairfax County Government, Fairfax, VA: Job Title: Energy Manager. Manage energy usage and conservation,
leading County to energy sustainability over the intermediate and long term, respectively. Plan, coordinate and direct scope, design
and construction of energy management projects covering a broad cross-section, from Roofing, to Solar PV, to HVAC and Building
Automation Controls with Measurement and Verification (MMV) systems, for energy-efficiency improvement, to LED lighting
upgrades. Formulate, plans, and coordinate energy efficiency and conservation policy, programs, and initiatives. Oversee and track the
County’s utility consumption 1.1 million MWh per year consumption, with an annual energy budget exceeding $20 million. Perform
energy audits, and develop a strategic energy plan that provides both long and short term goals over a five-year period to reduce utility
consumption and costs while minimizing impact on the environment, yet promote reduction of the County’s overall energy footprint
by 40%. Over a ten year period. Provide energy education to County employees and the public/ private sectors, including residents
(homeowners), supporting the green and lean way to energy efficiency. As a member of the County’s Executive Energy Committee, I
assist with policy research and decisions, write RFP’s and IFB’s to solicit qualified companies to bid on County jobs, and support the
development of County energy policy in coordination with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG).
Participate in and direct studies, research, tests, and evaluations of new energy efficiency approaches, measures, practices, and
equipment. Establish energy conservation goals for the County, and research technology, as well as funding opportunities and make
recommendations for the use of alternative energy sources. Perform other related duties as required by the County’s Deputy
Executive. Duties are performed under general guidance of the Director of Facilities Management Department (FMD), and the Deputy
County Executive.
Significant Accomplishments:
• Wrote a new Natural Gas contract, and re-negotiated Natural Gas purchases for the County and Public Schools, which extends
for three years, as opposed to one, as was previously done. The result: The County and Schools combined will save in excess of
$15 million over the course of the life of the 3-year contract, which has optional additional multi-year commitment embedded in
its terms.
• Installed energy-efficient roofing technology on the Herrity Building using nanotechnology ceramic coatings, resulting in energy
savings of 18% in the first year.
• Converted the Government Center parking garages from Fluorescent lamps to LED’s with a ROI of four years. This reduced
our energy footprint in the parking garages by over 60%.
• Performed Energy Audits on 22 County Libraries with identified energy savings opportunities of in excess of 43%
• Installed energy monitoring and Bay Door Interlock system, to extinguish bay heaters when bay doors are opened, on 19 of 40
County Fire Stations, resulting in energy reduction in excess of 25%.
• Installed an Energy Dashboard at the Government Center, to track and manage all utilities to the facility, resulting in energy
curtailment in excess of 20%.

• Over FY12 to FY13, energy cost decreased by 13.6% while correspondingly, our usage went down by an average of 20.6%,
as compared with the previous twelve months in FY 12. Overall energy (electricity, natural gas and water) savings realized
was $1.869 million, with the strongest gains coming from Electricity.

performance reviews, and salary adjustments for subordinates. Develop and maintain relationships with top executives on the Senior
Leadership Team; Maintain a highly cohesive and effective Operations management team; Meet regularly with Operations personnel

• Designed and built Rain-Shield Installation Machine that paid for itself in less than two months, eliminating three assembly
positions, while eliminating scrap by 35%. Result: Company gained over $700,000 in first year of launching.
• Designed and built two Voice Coil Ejector Machines, replacing four assembly line workers with two, improving production by
45%, decreasing scrap generation by 29%. Result: Saved Department over $150,000 in the first year.
• Designed machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and components using aluminum and plastic composite materials.
• Designed and built the Gap Gauge Vacuum Station, eliminating scrap production, and improving production.
• Modified existing assembly line through process flow techniques, increasing speaker production output by 15%.
