The CMD’s mission is to be the leading public advocate in the city of the economic and cultural importance of design. It financially and logistically supports and stimulates private and public initiatives related to design in the city. It assists local entrepreneurs in launching their ventures, coordinates interaction between designers, design managers, business executives, academics and policy makers and promotes the importance of design to the city’s economy.

One way that the CMD is working to draw attention to design as a tool of economic growth is the revitalization of the southern end of Barracas, by turning it into a design district. The Project Design District is still being formulated, but plans have focused on offering preferential loans, tax cuts, and subsidies for the restoration of buildings to design related companies that would install their offices or workshops in the area surrounding the CMD.

  1. 1. What is Creativity? Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others.
  2. 2. Three reasons why people are motivated to be creative: • Need for novel, varied, and complex stimulation • Need to communicate ideas and values • Need to solve problems
  3. 3. Social attitudes to creativity The various types of human societies limit or enhance the creativity of individuals and shape their identity Tradition and creativity are complementary parts of human invention, based on imagination, which are reflected forming identity traits. Creativity comes from the fantasy and imagination, freeing conformity and convention, to fill the gaps that the logical mind can not fill, of thoughts and ideas beyond reality, bringing the future every day.
  4. 4. The business innovation is now achieved with great attention to research and development, or may be developed by mere modifications in work practice, for exchange and combination of professional experience and in many other ways. In any case, documented and innovations are protected by patents or other intellectual property scheme.
  5. 5. What is Innovation?
  6. 6. Everywhere you look, people are talking about innovation. There are conferences and gurus, workshops and webinars, apostles and practitioners. But what is it, really?
  7. 7. To be called an INNOVATION, an idea must be replicable at an economical cost and must satisfy a specific need. Innovation involves deliberate application of information, imagination and initiative in deriving greater or different values from resources, and includes all processes by which new ideas are generated and converted into useful products. In business, innovation often results when ideas are applied by the company in order to further satisfy the needs and expectations of the customers.
  8. 8. Innovation is synonymous with risk-taking and organizations that create revolutionary products or technologies take on the greatest risk because they create new markets. Imitators take less risk because they will start with an innovator's product and take a more effective approach.

  10. 10. Solutions ……. The goal of any design is to solveneeds in different situations Among those needs, designing covers how it works inside and out. Situations = mean the context and support for: physical locations, equipment, clothing, paper, webs ... EVERYTHING
  11. 11. Why with Beauty? It's the secret ingredient, invisible; which makes the product transcends beyond the functionality and the user makes the pleasure of living the experience of use. Without beauty there is no design. Solutions are shaped. Functional forms, with certain criteria and logic. Beauty is a very aesthetic concept, subjective and cultural.
