Yes It Is Mandatory
It is a mental attitude that sees the good and the accomplishments in your life, rather than
the negative and the failures. A positive attitude is a mindset that helps you see and
recognize opportunities. Positive attitude means positive thinking. It is optimism and
maintaining a positive mindset.

If you want outstanding results, you need good people with great talent and awesome
attitudes. When attitudes go up, so does the potential of the team. When attitudes go
down, the potential of the team goes with it.

A Positive Attitude at Work can be the Key to your Success
Maintaining a positive attitude at work will benefit your career and steer you towards a promotion. 36
per cent of professionals polled on LinkedIn agree that a positive attitude is the most important
quality that employers look for in candidates and team members.
However, maintaining a positive attitude on a daily basis in the workplace is harder than you may
think. Work is stressful and challenging, and most professionals face deadlines and obstacles on a
weekly (if not daily) basis. This is not an environment that fosters a positive attitude – you really have
to work at it.
We’ve decided to not only tell you how you can convey your positive attitude at work to your
colleagues and superiors, but also why it is important and how you will benefit from this attitude shift.
HOW
1.Use Positive Language
No matter how long you’ve been with a company and how comfortable you may be around your
colleagues, you should never use profanity. If it slips out in a high-stress situation we can let it slide,
but you cannot swear on a regular basis. This is a professional environment, and the use of profanity
immediately ignites a negative aura into its surroundings.
2. Never Criticize Anyone
There is a difference between criticism and constructive feedback. Always use the method where you
begin by complimenting the individual on something they’ve done well, and follow it up with a
suggestion on how to improve their performance. Also, ensure to have this conversation in private.

The individual will respect your feedback, and also respect the fact that you brought awareness to the
situation in a professional manner.
3. Stay Away From Gossip
Nothing eats away at a teamwork environment worse than gossip does. Whether team members are
gossiping about colleagues or their personal problems, avoid the situation altogether. If you are
caught in the conversation, act as a listener who does not provide any input. Maintaining a positive
attitude at work means that you are a team player who provides all team members with respect. By
refraining from joining a gossip circle, you can ensure that you maintain that level of respect.
4. Put Teamwork First
When a team member has performed well, let them know. Offering pats on the back and
compliments on a job well done are two simple and easy ways to foster a positive teamwork
environment. In the same regard, when the team is faced with an obstacle, be sure to offer solutions
and next steps rather than focusing on the negatives. Approach each obstacle with a “glass half full”
mentality and you will create a positive outlook that will catch on to the rest of the team.
5. Don’t Complain
Every day is not a good day – but don’t let everyone on the team know that. You may have been stuck
in standstill traffic that morning, or experienced a 45-minute delay on your train ride, but you can’t let
those variables affect your work. If you are in a foul mood, ensure you walk it off before you get to the
office. That way, instead of ranting to your colleagues about how terrible your morning was, you can
poke fun at your bad luck and give everyone a chuckle. Laughing at your unfortunate circumstances
will keep the work environment positive, where ranting will add negativity and diminish the upbeat
working tone of the office.

A positive attitude is about more than just smiling at work. It literally benefits your overall health.
Stress can deteriorate your health, especially when you experience it on a daily basis. These daily

stresses start to wear down your health and your immune system. Put a stop to that before it starts
by using our steps to ensure you face each workday positively.
2. Become a Role Model
People avoid negativity and they are drawn to positivity. Your positive attitude at work will allow your
colleagues to feel comfortable coming to you with questions or for advice. You will quickly become a
role model and an ally for many team members which will be viewed as an excellent quality by
superiors.
3. Infectious Positivity
Your positive attitude will rub off on your teammates. Nobody wants to be the grumpy and
pessimistic team member when everyone else is so positive. You will set an example, become a role
model (as stated in point #2), and eventually create a full team of professionals with positive
attitudes. This will boost the effectiveness of the overall working environment and lead to successes
for the company.
4. Take the Lead Role
You’ve become a role model in the team, so naturally management will see that you have the
leadership qualities to take on the next special project. The team members will respond well to your
leadership and you will be given additional responsibilities to help you climb up the ladder in the
office.
5. Be Next in Line for a Promotion
The same way that Hiring Managers look for a positive attitude in potential candidates to fulfill a role,
Management will also look for a positive attitude in a team member that is ready for a promotion.
Positivity in the workplace shows that you can encourage your team members to overcome obstacles
and work cohesively to achieve the company’s goals. As a team member with a positive attitude, you
will have already demonstrated these traits to your superior and therefore will be favoured for a
promotion.

Positive Attitude in the Workplace.
Have you heard of the domino effect? Simply defined, the domino effect is a collection of
events that have all resulted because of a single event. For example, knocking down the first
domino will cause all the other dominos to fall. The domino effect can be observed almost
anywhere but it’s especially easy to detect in the workplace. It’s often easier to see a domino
effect when it’s negative. The negative expressions of one employee can take a meeting from
productive to pitiful in a matter of minutes. Eliminating workplace negativity is the first step.
But if you can take it a step further and create a positive attitude in the workplace, the
resulting domino effect can transform nearly every aspect of your business.
Tips for Promoting a Positive Attitude in the Workplace
Start with yourself
Take a moment to evaluate your own outlook. If you want to be a leader, you need to make
sure you’re putting out the right vibes. Focus on milestones the team reaches, no matter how
minute. Recognize employees who are going the extra mile. Make sure you’re focusing on
creating healthy work relationships that make everyone feel like they’re an important part of
the team.
Show gratitude
Part of showing gratitude is seeking out the positive qualities in others. This can help to
develop respect, trust, and confidence throughout the workplace. Now isn’t the time to be shy.
Compliment coworkers on their strengths and what they bring to the table. You may help them
realize something about themselves they didn’t know. Remember, gratitude changes your
vibrational frequency in the world.

Focus on the positive
What you focus on will grow. This isn’t just work related either so if you don’t believe it, give it
a try in your personal life first. Instead of focusing on what you can’t change, focus on what
you’re thankful for. Focus on what brings you joy and you’ll notice an abundance of joy in your
life. Focus on trust in your relationship and watch it strengthen before your eyes. Retraining
your eye and mind to focus on the positive aspect of everything life has to offer will eventually
transfer to the workplace.
Rethink your wording
Everything you say or write in the office should have a positive spin on it. Instead of writing,
“Don’t forget to recycle” in a memo, simply write “Please recycle.” The positive wording is
better received, and the message is more likely to be taken to heart. Before you speak at a
meeting or directly to an employee, do your best to plan out each sentence so it contains
positive words instead of negative.
Smile
When in doubt, smile. A paper published in the journal Trends in Cognitive Sciences finally
put the science behind something we’ve always known. Facial expressions are contagious.
This goes for both positive and negative. So, if you’re walking through the office with a frown
on your face, even if it really doesn’t mean anything, the people around you are more likely to
frown themselves. But flash a smile at everyone you pass and you’re more likely to create a
domino effect of smiles throughout the office, boosting positivity.
Positivity is a powerful emotion. When your team has an overall positive outlook, it becomes
easier to reach goals and draw in customers. The power of a positive attitude in the
workplace is almost immeasurable.

  • 3. “ A Study on Positive attitude among the workforce -is it Mandatory? ” Yes It Is Mandatory It is a mental attitude that sees the good and the accomplishments in your life, rather than the negative and the failures. A positive attitude is a mindset that helps you see and recognize opportunities. Positive attitude means positive thinking. It is optimism and maintaining a positive mindset. Creates a positive environment •Helps to Achieve Goals and Career success •Stress reduction and management •Better health •Less sick days •Increases productivity levels •Produces more energy •Improves customer relations •Makes for better leadership skills •Improves teamwork •Improves decision-making •Overcomes Challenges •Improves motivation for yourself and others •Improves Interpersonal Relations •Improves the attitude of other employees •Increases self-esteem and confidence in yourself and others •Reduces the number of obstacles and difficulties you will encounter If you want outstanding results, you need good people with great talent and awesome attitudes. When attitudes go up, so does the potential of the team. When attitudes go down, the potential of the team goes with it.
  • 4. “ A Study on Positive attitude among the workforce -is it Mandatory? ” A Positive Attitude at Work can be the Key to your Success Maintaining a positive attitude at work will benefit your career and steer you towards a promotion. 36 per cent of professionals polled on LinkedIn agree that a positive attitude is the most important quality that employers look for in candidates and team members. However, maintaining a positive attitude on a daily basis in the workplace is harder than you may think. Work is stressful and challenging, and most professionals face deadlines and obstacles on a weekly (if not daily) basis. This is not an environment that fosters a positive attitude – you really have to work at it. We’ve decided to not only tell you how you can convey your positive attitude at work to your colleagues and superiors, but also why it is important and how you will benefit from this attitude shift. HOW 1.Use Positive Language No matter how long you’ve been with a company and how comfortable you may be around your colleagues, you should never use profanity. If it slips out in a high-stress situation we can let it slide, but you cannot swear on a regular basis. This is a professional environment, and the use of profanity immediately ignites a negative aura into its surroundings. 2. Never Criticize Anyone There is a difference between criticism and constructive feedback. Always use the method where you begin by complimenting the individual on something they’ve done well, and follow it up with a suggestion on how to improve their performance. Also, ensure to have this conversation in private.

Stay Away From Gossip Nothing eats away at a teamwork environment worse than gossip does. Whether team members are gossiping about colleagues or their personal problems, avoid the situation altogether. If you are caught in the conversation, act as a listener who does not provide any input. Maintaining a positive attitude at work means that you are a team player who provides all team members with respect. By refraining from joining a gossip circle, you can ensure that you maintain that level of respect. 4. Put Teamwork First When a team member has performed well, let them know. Offering pats on the back and compliments on a job well done are two simple and easy ways to foster a positive teamwork environment. In the same regard, when the team is faced with an obstacle, be sure to offer solutions and next steps rather than focusing on the negatives. Approach each obstacle with a “glass half full” mentality and you will create a positive outlook that will catch on to the rest of the team. 5. Don’t Complain Every day is not a good day – but don’t let everyone on the team know that. You may have been stuck in standstill traffic that morning, or experienced a 45-minute delay on your train ride, but you can’t let those variables affect your work. If you are in a foul mood, ensure you walk it off before you get to the office. That way, instead of ranting to your colleagues about how terrible your morning was, you can poke fun at your bad luck and give everyone a chuckle. Laughing at your unfortunate circumstances will keep the work environment positive, where ranting will add negativity and diminish the upbeat working tone of the office. WHY 1. Health Benefits A positive attitude is about more than just smiling at work. It literally benefits your overall health. Stress can deteriorate your health, especially when you experience it on a daily basis. These daily

Put a stop to that before it starts by using our steps to ensure you face each workday positively. 2. Become a Role Model People avoid negativity and they are drawn to positivity. Your positive attitude at work will allow your colleagues to feel comfortable coming to you with questions or for advice. You will quickly become a role model and an ally for many team members which will be viewed as an excellent quality by superiors. 3. Infectious Positivity Your positive attitude will rub off on your teammates. Nobody wants to be the grumpy and pessimistic team member when everyone else is so positive. You will set an example, become a role model (as stated in point #2), and eventually create a full team of professionals with positive attitudes. This will boost the effectiveness of the overall working environment and lead to successes for the company. 4. Take the Lead Role You’ve become a role model in the team, so naturally management will see that you have the leadership qualities to take on the next special project. The team members will respond well to your leadership and you will be given additional responsibilities to help you climb up the ladder in the office. 5. Be Next in Line for a Promotion The same way that Hiring Managers look for a positive attitude in potential candidates to fulfill a role, Management will also look for a positive attitude in a team member that is ready for a promotion. Positivity in the workplace shows that you can encourage your team members to overcome obstacles and work cohesively to achieve the company’s goals. As a team member with a positive attitude, you will have already demonstrated these traits to your superior and therefore will be favoured for a promotion.

Simply defined, the domino effect is a collection of events that have all resulted because of a single event. For example, knocking down the first domino will cause all the other dominos to fall. The domino effect can be observed almost anywhere but it’s especially easy to detect in the workplace. It’s often easier to see a domino effect when it’s negative. The negative expressions of one employee can take a meeting from productive to pitiful in a matter of minutes. Eliminating workplace negativity is the first step. But if you can take it a step further and create a positive attitude in the workplace, the resulting domino effect can transform nearly every aspect of your business. Tips for Promoting a Positive Attitude in the Workplace Start with yourself Take a moment to evaluate your own outlook. If you want to be a leader, you need to make sure you’re putting out the right vibes. Focus on milestones the team reaches, no matter how minute. Recognize employees who are going the extra mile. Make sure you’re focusing on creating healthy work relationships that make everyone feel like they’re an important part of the team. Show gratitude Part of showing gratitude is seeking out the positive qualities in others. This can help to develop respect, trust, and confidence throughout the workplace. Now isn’t the time to be shy. Compliment coworkers on their strengths and what they bring to the table. You may help them realize something about themselves they didn’t know. Remember, gratitude changes your vibrational frequency in the world.

This isn’t just work related either so if you don’t believe it, give it a try in your personal life first. Instead of focusing on what you can’t change, focus on what you’re thankful for. Focus on what brings you joy and you’ll notice an abundance of joy in your life. Focus on trust in your relationship and watch it strengthen before your eyes. Retraining your eye and mind to focus on the positive aspect of everything life has to offer will eventually transfer to the workplace. Rethink your wording Everything you say or write in the office should have a positive spin on it. Instead of writing, “Don’t forget to recycle” in a memo, simply write “Please recycle.” The positive wording is better received, and the message is more likely to be taken to heart. Before you speak at a meeting or directly to an employee, do your best to plan out each sentence so it contains positive words instead of negative. Smile When in doubt, smile. A paper published in the journal Trends in Cognitive Sciences finally put the science behind something we’ve always known. Facial expressions are contagious. This goes for both positive and negative. So, if you’re walking through the office with a frown on your face, even if it really doesn’t mean anything, the people around you are more likely to frown themselves. But flash a smile at everyone you pass and you’re more likely to create a domino effect of smiles throughout the office, boosting positivity. Positivity is a powerful emotion. When your team has an overall positive outlook, it becomes easier to reach goals and draw in customers. The power of a positive attitude in the workplace is almost immeasurable.
