Dear Parents and Students:
It’s hard to believe that the summer is quickly coming to an end and we are ready to begin the 2010-
2011 school year. The staff is already busy preparing their classrooms for the return of students on
Monday, August 30th. Mr. Brown and his team have once again done an amazing job and thanks to their
hard work, our school glistens.
I am pleased to introduce three new staff members to Limerick Elementary. This year we welcome Mrs.
Stefanie Emes, Kindergarten Teacher; Mrs. Ellen Luchette, Gifted Support Teacher; and Mrs. Susan
Reber, Technology Support Technician. Mrs. Emes, Mrs. Luchette and Mrs. Reber are transferring into
Limerick from other SFASD schools and come with the highest of recommendations. Mr. Shawn
Riordan, who has been teaching third grade at Limerick for many years, has made the move to first
grade this year.
We are excited to continue our work on the outdoor classroom. Volunteers will be needed to assist on
October 15th and possibly October 22nd, to help create an outside assembly area. Volunteers are needed
to dig, shovel the dirt into wheelbarrows, haul stones, and move pavers. If this sounds like your kind of
fun, we need your help. More information will follow within the first few days of the school year.
In order to volunteer this year, you will no longer need to submit your ACT 34 and 151 clearances.
Instead, the district will be utilizing our raptor license scanning system for all volunteers. If you haven’t
already been scanned into our system, please plan to bring your license with you during your first visit
so that you can be entered into the system.

AM Session – 9:00 AM to 11:40 AM
PM Session – 1:00 PM – 3:40 PM
2010-2011 School Theme – “Hooked on Learning at Limerick”
All Spring-Ford elementary schools operate on a six day cycle. The first day of school is
Day 1, next is Day 2, etc. until Day 6. The cycle begins again with Day 1. Vacation days
and days missed are not included in the cycle. Most communications that you receive
will designate the days in the cycle to coincide with the days of the week. August 30th
is Day 1. The days that school is in session are the only days that are counted.
All walkers will enter the building through the community entrance (Media Center –
Door #14) adjacent to the playground. Doors are not opened until 8:35 AM. For the
safety of all children, walkers should not be outside the building until at least 8:35 AM,
as there is no supervision until that time. To eliminate students waiting, we suggest that
they do not arrive prior to 8:45 AM.
Parents/Guardians who drive their children to school are asked to drop them off at
(Door #9) adjacent to the lower parking lot.
Drop-off time is 8:35 AM – 8:55 AM. Please drive as far to the end of the cul-de-
sac as possible to allow other vehicles to pull up and begin to drop off.
Children being dropped off after 8:55 AM must enter the school by the main
entrance in the front of the building and report to the office. Parents are asked
to park in the lower lot and walk the students to the office between 8:55 AM
and 9:00 AM due to bus traffic.
Student pick-up time is 3:40 PM – 3:50 PM. Parents may enter through the cafeteria
(Door #6) beginning at 3:35 PM.
All children being picked up after 3:15 PM must exit through the cafeteria at
3:40 PM dismissal.
Children being picked up must be signed out by a parent/guardian or designated
person. If someone other than the parent/guardian is picking up the student,
we must have the name of the person designated to pick up the student in
writing from the parent.
Parents picking up students at dismissal must park in the designated parking
spaces at the side of the building. No parking is permitted anywhere along the
Beginning with the first school day and continuing through the year, cars are not permitted to drive up to
the main entrance of the school between 8:15 AM – 9:00 AM, 11:15 AM – 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM – 4:00
PM when buses are unloading or loading. The front entrance is to be used only by students exiting or
boarding school buses. If parents need to enter the office during these times, please park in the lower
It is recommended that students be at their bus stops five to ten minutes prior to their
assigned time on the first few days of school. Please remember that school bus safety
begins at the bus stop. It is recommended that an adult accompany students to the bus
stop if at all possible. This helps to prevent problems.
An elementary school lunch can be purchased at a cost of $2.65 a day. Students may
buy lunch or bring a packed lunch. Milk may be purchased at a cost of $.50 per half-pint
carton. Limerick uses a “POS” (Point of Sale) System which enables you to send in any
amount of money to be put in an account for your child. This money may be used for
lunch and/or beverage purchases.
In the event of school being delayed, cancelled or dismissed early due to weather, you
will most likely be contacted by our automated Skylert phone system. Other numbers
to post on your refrigerator or near your phone for quick reference include:
TELEVISION (WFMZ – Channel 69), (NBC – Channel 10), and (ABC – Channel 6)
