the gathering, Om Birla
said that India has pro-

world of sports in the
last few years and has
also achieved many
achievements, but we
are still far from the
goal of becoming a lead-

youths have the capabil-
ity to take India to new
horizons. For this, it is
necessary that they are
provided with opportu-
nities to enhance their
talents. For this we
need to make collective
efforts,” said Speaker
Om Birla
During his visit to

Jaipur: It has been
thirty months since
IAS Hemant Kumar
Gera took over the
reins of DoP as on
October 5, 2020 he
was appointed as
Principal Secretary
of the department.
Gera is the only offi-
cer in the current
government who has
played such a long
‘innings’ in the state
secretariat. It is be-
lieved that Gera
would definitely be
shuffled in the next
IAS transfer list. 1997
batch IAS, Gera is
counted among the
top two dozen senior
most officials of the
state government
and thus, keeping in
mind his seniority, it
was being speculated
that he would be giv-
en an important posi-
tion once he is shuf-
fled from the current
position. However,
Gera will have to
‘bat’ for some more
time on the current
position.
But that is not all.
While serving in
DoP, as on today, he is
handling the addi-
tional charge of two
more departments.
For the past five
months, after Sud-
hansh Pant left for
Delhi, Gera has been
handling the addi-
tional charge of DG-
HCM-RIPA and now
theadditionalcharge
of GAD and Civil
Aviation has also
fallen on him.
Jitendra Upad-
hyay, who was han-
dling GAD, has gone
on a leave and newly
appointed Principal
Secretary Dinesh Ku-
mar is also on extend-
ed leave. Meanwhile,
Gera’s hands are al-
ready full with a ‘full-
time’ job in the DoP
and then he has to go
out of the secretariat
to HCM-RIPA and
also handle the sensi-
tive responsibility of
GAD. In fact, what
has felt more ‘bur-
den’ for Gera is the
transfer of Addition-
al DG of HCM-RIPA
Tikam Chand Bohra,
on whose place no
new appointment has
been made and thus
all responsibilities of
RIPA have fallen on
Gera’s shoulders.
This means that
Gera is handling
three departments all
alone. Perhaps Gera
is the only offier in
the Secretariat who
is handling so many
responsibilities and
it is but obvious that
there is a limit to how
much work an officer
can handle.

Accused Ved Prakash Yadav was the store incharge of DoIT for the past 20 years
Navin Sharma
Jaipur: Joint director
of the Department of
Information Technolo-

gold, allegedly took
bribe from companies
that supplied CCTV
cameras, computers
and LED screens to gov-

the police said.
Yadav was recruited
in 1994 as a program-
mer and was the store
incharge of DoIT for
the past 20 years. He
became a joint director

The police had recov-

crore in cash and gold
weighing 1 kilogram
from a locked almirah
in the basement of Ya-

Yojana Bhavan.
It is clearly visible in
the CCTV that after the
duty was over, Ved
Prakash Yadav went to
the basement with
a laptop bag on his
shoulder, opened the
lock of the cupboard
and kept the bag.
Jaipur Police Com-

police team had to
watch CCTV footage of
more than 30 days to
nab Yadav. At the same
time, a police team in-
terrogated more than
50 officers and employ-
ees of the department.
When Yadav was in-

fessed that he had tak-
en this amount as bribe
from different people.
Instead of taking them

State civic bodies in fix post Raj RERA order
First India Bureau
Jaipur: After the de-
cree of the Real Estate
Regulatory Authority,
Rajasthan, civic bodies
across the State, includ-

JDA’S CASE BEFORE STATE GOVT
The State Government had set a new cut-off date for the
regularisation of colonies in the PSKS campaign. The
cut-off date for regularisation of illegal colonies has been
increased from June 17, 1999 to December 31, 2021. The
record presented by the development committee has been
accepted whereas the records of the housing cooperative
societies have not been considered as valid. According to in-
structions of the Govt, JDA takes action on the application of
the development committee be it the cooperative societies or
private account holders. The JDA takes suo motu action for
land conversion on non-agricultural use of agricultural land.
In these, neither any housing cooperative society nor any
development society is willing to register with RERA. If JDA
registers these schemes in accordance with the instructions
of RERA, then JDA will have the responsibility of complet-
ing the development work along with completing the plan
on time under the RERA Act. Besides, various provisions of
RERA law will have to be followed. In cases where there is a
provision for depositing the development fee, work is done
in the colony according to the deposited fee. Whereas in the
case of colonies built till Dec 31, 2021, exemption of external
and internal development charges was given. So it will not be
possible to follow the instructions of RERA.

Often, one has no control
over adverse storm like
circumstances that one
encounters in life.
Dwelling on constraints
prevents one from seeing
possibilities that are still
within reach. One can stay
active and happy by
adjusting the way one uses
one’s physical, mental and
emotional resources. Being
balanced in what one
expects of oneself and
showing consideration and
appreciation for any help
offered by others builds
cooperation and mutual
understanding
spirations attained and hopes
realized result in satisfaction.
But, many of our dreams and
expectations do not turn out the
way we wish. Recurring disap-
pointments in life can make one
feel exasperated with oneself
and even with others.
With the fast pace of life to-
day, the more one tries to keep
up, the further one seems to
fall behind. Demands on one’s
time and energy can be unre-
lenting, and when one fails to
get the set task done, one can
begin to feel as though one is
letting others down.
“I failed again!” Often, we say
this, when we are unable to ac-
complish what we have decided
to do. How can one deal with
such feelings?
To experience happiness,
one needs to cultivate reason-
able expectations and a realis-
tic view of one’s abilities and
circumstances. Trying to at-
tain unreasonably high goals
can give undue tension and
frustration. Also, becoming too
lenient with oneself and slow-
ing down can result in disap-
pointments.
Deteriorating health or di-
minished energy magnifies
one’s limitations and can trig-
ger feelings of dissatisfaction
and distress. Left unchanged,
such feelings cause one to be-
lieve that he or she is not appre-
ciated by others.
If a close friend shows signs
of exhaustion due to over exer-
tion, would one not try to help
him / her to make some adjust-
ments in life? Similarly, one
must recognize the signs when
one is going beyond one’s own
limits.
To have a reasonable view of
one’s condition can be chal-
lenging if one is brought up in
an overly demanding family,
where there is constant pres-
sure to do more.
Getting some rest before
starting any increased activi-
ties and finding a pace that fits
one’s capabilities, builds up en-
ergy and preserves the right at-
titude toward work.
Often, one has no control
over adverse storm like circum-
stances that one encounters in
life. Dwelling on constraints
prevents one from seeing pos-
sibilities that are still within
reach. One can stay active and
happy by adjusting the way one
uses one’s physical, mental and
emotional resources.
Being balanced in what one
expects of oneself and showing
consideration and appreciation
for any help offered by others
builds cooperation and mutual
understanding.
The belief that one has to be
absolutely perfect in every-
thing afflicts the thinking of
many. There is a big difference
between the healthy pursuit of
excellence and the unhealthy
striving for an impossible ideal.
People who strive for excel-
lence are orderly and organised
and have high expectations
from themselves, but they also
accept their errors and have
positive ways of coping with
them.
Perfectionists, on the other
hand, live in a constant state of
stress. Such ones may avoid do-
ing anything new or may put
off doing important things be-
cause of fear of failure. The
reality is, few ever succeed at
being the best. And even when
someone does, it’s usually just
a matter of time before another
one comes along who is better.
A good question to consider
is, “has my excessively high
standards made it easy for me
to have friends? Probably not.
One may have rejected people
because they did not come up to
their standards.
‘Why would people tend to
avoid me because of my perfec-
tionism?’ One may wonder.
Generally, voicing high expec-
tations even of oneself and be-
ing self-centred has a negative
effect on others who struggle to
keep a balance.
The closer one gets to a per-
son, the more likely one sees his
/ her flaws. By overlooking mi-
nor faults and accepting them
as they are and by being adapt-
able, one is able to work harmo-
niously with all sorts of people.
Expecting more than what one
can give or comparing two indi-
viduals prevents one to see the
potential in each.
At times, we hear, “I’m an in-
dividual, there is no one like
me.” A saying expresses this
fact simply
. “The fingers are not
all of the same length.” Being
willing to forgive and changing
one’s course or actions as new
circumstances arise, help in
maintaining a wavelength with
different kinds of people. Also,
by being fair and rational, it is
possible to be yielding when
necessary.
Expecting perfection from
imperfect people and in a less
than ideal environment is ab-
surd. So, one can ask, ‘Do I suc-
ceed in collaborating with oth-
ers? Am I reasonable in what I
expect from others?’ A rigid
driving, “do more, do more, do
more!” Approach may disheart-
en and demotivate those, who
are doing all they can.
How sad it would be if one
has a reputation for being “hard
to please” – a far cry from rea-
sonableness!

self-respect, courage, valour
 sacrifice is inspirational
for all of us,” he said. The

Moond, Yashveer Sura, Satveer Choudhary
and Rakesh Meena contesting elections met
CM Ashok Gehlot, State in-charge Sukhjinder
Randhawa and PCC Chief GS Dotasra and
discussed their problems. They said that fair-
ness was not maintained in Youth Congress
elections. The result was already available
in the market 1 hour before the release of
the poll result. At the same time, discrimina-
tion has also been done in vote rejection. In
such a situation, there should be an impartial
inquiry into this entire matter. The total vot-
ing in Youth Congress polls in Raj was more
than 19L. But only 7.70L votes were counted.

Congress state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh
Randhawa said that Prime Minister
Narendra Modi had given the slogan of
Congress-free India but this dream will never
be fulfilled. “We have made South India BJP
free. Today there is no BJP government in
South India. At the same time, leaving only
4 states in North India, BJP does not have a
government in any state on its own. At the
same time, in the coming assembly elec-
tions, Congress is going to form government
in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh
and Telangana as well,” he said.
PCC President Govind Singh Dotasra said
that on the death anniversary of Rajiv
Gandhi, “we have taken a pledge that we will
take the schemes of the government among
the public.” “BJP is only greedy for power.
Today the public has started seeing them as
wolf greedy for power. These people have
nothing to do with unemployment, infla-
tion and the pain of the youth. These people
are just power greedy people. They have
misused the constitutional institutions in the
country. In Rajasthan too, we welcome ED,
Income Tax and CBI,” he said.

ender stereotypes have been a
part of clothing design for cen-
turies. Pink is for girls and
blue is for boys. Dresses are for
women and pants are for men.
However, times are changing.
The rise of gender-neutral
clothing has taken the fashion indus-
try by storm.
Brands are starting to break down
the barriers of gender stereotypes, of-
fering clothing that is comfortable,
stylish, and suitable for anyone, re-
gardless of gender. Gender-neutral
clothing is all about breaking down the
traditional gender roles that we have
been conditioned to believe.
Indian clothing has always had a
touch of androgyny to it, but in recent
years, more brands and designers have
sparked the gender-neutral debate
again and even added collections of the
same.
Gender-neutral clothing is clothing
that is designed to be suitable for peo-
ple of any gender identity or expres-
sion. It is designed to be inclusive of
all genders, regardless of whether
they fit into traditional male or fe-
male clothing categories.
Designing clothing that is meant to
be worn by anyone, regardless of gen-
der, reduces the need for separate
clothing lines for men and women.
This can help to reduce the environ-
mental impact of the fashion indus-
try and promote sustainability.
Indian males adapted to unisex
fashion years ago. It is a wonderful
turn that fashion is taking where men
and women are both choosing to share
wardrobes and fit. However, Women
have traditionally been more permit-
ted to dress androgynously.
You can also experiment one way
is to start with accessories. You can
add a gender-neutral hat, bag, or
shoes to your outfit to give it a
more modern and progressive
look.
Another way to incorporate
gender-neutral clothing is to
layer your outfits. By layering
different pieces, you can create
a unique and stylish look that
is gender-neutral with over-
sized clothing, like an over-
sized blazer or shirt, to
create a more relaxed
and effortless look.
It is important
to remember that
gender-neutral
clothing makes
you feel comforta-
ble and confident no
matter how you are
carrying it.

YOUR
DAY
Horoscope by
Saurabbh Sachdeva
he Internation-
al Day for Bio-
logical Diversi-
ty is a momen-
tous occasion
celebrated an-
nually on May
22 to raise awareness
about the critical impor-
tance of biodiversity
and to highlight the ur-
gent need for its conser-
vation. Recognized by
the United Nations, this
day serves as a reminder
of our collective respon-
sibility to protect and
sustainably manage the
Earth's rich and diverse
ecosystems. In this arti-
cle, we delve into the sig-
nificance of biodi-
versity, the
challenges
it faces, and the actions
we can take to preserve
this invaluable asset for
future generations.
Biodiversity refers to
the incredible variety of
life forms on our planet,
encompassing all living
organisms, including
plants, animals, and mi-
croorganisms, as well as
the intricate networks
of interactions between
them and their environ-
ments. It is the founda-
tion of ecosystem func-
tioning and provides
numerous ecological,
economic, and social
benefits. Biodiversity
supports the provision
of essential ecosystem
services such as clean
air and water, pollina-
tion, nutrient cycling,
and climate regulation.
It also contributes to
cultural and aesthetic
values, scientific discov-
eries, and potential
sources of new medi-
cines.
Unfortunately, biodi-
versity is under im-
mense pressure due to
various human activi-
ties. Habitat
destruction, deforesta-
tion, pollution, climate
change, overexploita-
tion of natural resourc-
es, and the introduction
of invasive species have
all contributed to the de-
cline of species and eco-
systems worldwide. The
loss of biodiversity not
only diminishes the re-
silience of ecosystems
but also jeopardizes food
security
, water availabil-
ity, and human well-be-
ing. It is imperative that
we address these chal-
lenges and reverse the
current trajectory of
biodiversity loss.
Preserving biodiver-
sity requires a collective
effort involving govern-
ments, organiza-
tions, communi-
ties, and indi-
viduals. Here
are some key actions
that can contribute to
biodiversity conserva-
tion:
 Protecting and restor-
ing habitats: Preserv-
ing intact ecosystems
and restoring degrad-
ed habitats are essen-
tial for safeguarding
biodiversity. This in-
cludes establishing
protected areas, con-
serving critical habi-
tats, and promoting
sustainable land-use
practices.
 Promoting sustaina-
ble agriculture and
forestry: Encourag-
ing sustainable farm-
ing practices that
minimize the use of
pesticides, conserve
soil fertility, and pro-
tect natural habitats
can help main-
tain biodiversi-
ty in agricultur-
al landscapes. Simi-
larly, adopting re-
sponsible forest man-
agement practices
can mitigate defor-
estation and habitat
destruction.
 Combatting climate
change: Addressing
climate change is cru-
cial for biodiversity
conservation. Efforts
to reduce greenhouse
gas emissions, pro-
mote renewable en-
ergy sources, and
adapt to changing cli-
matic conditions can
help safeguard vul-
nerable species and
ecosystems.
 Combating invasive
species: Pre-
venting and
managing
the intro-
duction of
i nv a s ive
species is
crucial for preserving
native biodiversity.
Early detection, rapid
response, and effec-
tive control measures
are vital in minimiz-
ing their negative im-
pacts.
 Raising awareness
and education: Edu-
cating people about
the importance of bi-
odiversity and the ac-
tions they can take to
protect it is funda-
mental. Awareness
campaigns, educa-
tional programs, and
citizen science initia-
tives can empower
individuals to con-
tribute to biodiversi-
ty conservation.
The International
Day for Biological Diver-
sity serves as a poignant
reminder of the critical
role that biodiversity
plays in sustaining life
on Earth. It calls upon
individuals, communi-
ties, and governments to
take proactive steps in
conserving and restor-
ing biodiversity for the
benefit of current and
future generations. By
valuing and protecting
the extraordinary web
of life that surrounds
us, we can ensure a resil-
ient and vibrant planet
that thrives with di-
verse species,
healthy ecosys-
tems, and a sus-
tainable future
for all.

A new policy has been issued for the po- lice in the state regard- ing the use of social media. In the policy is- sued by DGP Umesh Mishra, policemen in uniform have been banned from making reels on social media. Besides, police person- nel will also have to re- frain from joining con- troversial groups, fol- lowing criminals and using inflammatory and misleadingmaterial.Ac- tion will now be taken against the policemen who flout the orders. The social media pol- icy was prepared by the Central govt last month for police forces across country . This policy pre- pared by the Ministry of Home Affairs was shared with all the states and was imple- mented in UP last week. Policemen will have to keep in mind the im- age of the police while posting anything on so- cial media. Policemen must like and follow the social media handles of Rajasthan Police. Bharat Dixit Jaipur: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday felicitated the sports persons taking part in the ongoing Open Taekwondo Com- petition at SMS Stadi- um. While addressing the gathering, Om Birla said that India has pro- gressed rapidly in the world of sports in the last few years and has also achieved many achievements, but we are still far from the goal of becoming a lead- er in every sport. “Our youths have the capabil- ity to take India to new horizons. For this, it is necessary that they are provided with opportu- nities to enhance their talents. For this we need to make collective efforts,” said Speaker Om Birla During his visit to Jaipur, Birla also reached the memorial of former Vice Prez Bhairon Singh Shekha- wat in Vidyadhar Na- gar. After paying re- spects at his memorial, Birla said that he was a people’s leader and a great leader, he had an incomparable contribu- tion for Rajasthan. Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur: It has been thirty months since IAS Hemant Kumar Gera took over the reins of DoP as on October 5, 2020 he was appointed as Principal Secretary of the department. Gera is the only offi- cer in the current government who has played such a long ‘innings’ in the state secretariat. It is be- lieved that Gera would definitely be shuffled in the next IAS transfer list. 1997 batch IAS, Gera is counted among the top two dozen senior most officials of the state government and thus, keeping in mind his seniority, it was being speculated that he would be giv- en an important posi- tion once he is shuf- fled from the current position. However, Gera will have to ‘bat’ for some more time on the current position. But that is not all. While serving in DoP, as on today, he is handling the addi- tional charge of two more departments. For the past five months, after Sud- hansh Pant left for Delhi, Gera has been handling the addi- tional charge of DG- HCM-RIPA and now theadditionalcharge of GAD and Civil Aviation has also fallen on him. Jitendra Upad- hyay, who was han- dling GAD, has gone on a leave and newly appointed Principal Secretary Dinesh Ku- mar is also on extend- ed leave. Meanwhile, Gera’s hands are al- ready full with a ‘full- time’ job in the DoP and then he has to go out of the secretariat to HCM-RIPA and also handle the sensi- tive responsibility of GAD. In fact, what has felt more ‘bur- den’ for Gera is the transfer of Addition- al DG of HCM-RIPA Tikam Chand Bohra, on whose place no new appointment has been made and thus all responsibilities of RIPA have fallen on Gera’s shoulders. This means that Gera is handling three departments all alone. Perhaps Gera is the only offier in the Secretariat who is handling so many responsibilities and it is but obvious that there is a limit to how much work an officer can handle. Cops not to post videos in uniforms now NEW SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY FOR POLICE DGP Umesh Mishra Hemant Gera Om Birla felicitating one of winners at the Taekwondo Championship held at SMS Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. JDA’S CASE BEFORE STATE GOVT The State Government had set a new cut-off date for the regularisation of colonies in the PSKS campaign. The cut-off date for regularisation of illegal colonies has been increased from June 17, 1999 to December 31, 2021. The record presented by the development committee has been accepted whereas the records of the housing cooperative societies have not been considered as valid. According to in- structions of the Govt, JDA takes action on the application of the development committee be it the cooperative societies or private account holders. The JDA takes suo motu action for land conversion on non-agricultural use of agricultural land. In these, neither any housing cooperative society nor any development society is willing to register with RERA. If JDA registers these schemes in accordance with the instructions of RERA, then JDA will have the responsibility of complet- ing the development work along with completing the plan on time under the RERA Act. Besides, various provisions of RERA law will have to be followed. In cases where there is a provision for depositing the development fee, work is done in the colony according to the deposited fee. Whereas in the case of colonies built till Dec 31, 2021, exemption of external and internal development charges was given. So it will not be possible to follow the instructions of RERA. Arise. —Bhagavad Gita TOP TWEETS Often, one has no control over adverse storm like circumstances that one encounters in life. Dwelling on constraints prevents one from seeing possibilities that are still within reach. One can stay active and happy by adjusting the way one uses one’s physical, mental and emotional resources. Being balanced in what one expects of oneself and showing consideration and appreciation for any help offered by others builds cooperation and mutual understanding spirations attained and hopes realized result in satisfaction. But, many of our dreams and expectations do not turn out the way we wish. Recurring disap- pointments in life can make one feel exasperated with oneself and even with others. With the fast pace of life to- day, the more one tries to keep up, the further one seems to fall behind. Demands on one’s time and energy can be unre- lenting, and when one fails to get the set task done, one can begin to feel as though one is letting others down. “I failed again!” Often, we say this, when we are unable to ac- complish what we have decided to do. How can one deal with such feelings? To experience happiness, one needs to cultivate reason- able expectations and a realis- tic view of one’s abilities and circumstances. Trying to at- tain unreasonably high goals can give undue tension and frustration. Also, becoming too lenient with oneself and slow- ing down can result in disap- pointments. Deteriorating health or di- minished energy magnifies one’s limitations and can trig- ger feelings of dissatisfaction and distress. Left unchanged, such feelings cause one to be- lieve that he or she is not appre- ciated by others. If a close friend shows signs of exhaustion due to over exer- tion, would one not try to help him / her to make some adjust- ments in life? Similarly, one must recognize the signs when one is going beyond one’s own limits. To have a reasonable view of one’s condition can be chal- lenging if one is brought up in an overly demanding family, where there is constant pres- sure to do more. Getting some rest before starting any increased activi- ties and finding a pace that fits one’s capabilities, builds up en- ergy and preserves the right at- titude toward work. Often, one has no control over adverse storm like circum- stances that one encounters in life. Dwelling on constraints prevents one from seeing pos- sibilities that are still within reach. One can stay active and happy by adjusting the way one uses one’s physical, mental and emotional resources. Being balanced in what one expects of oneself and showing consideration and appreciation for any help offered by others builds cooperation and mutual understanding. The belief that one has to be absolutely perfect in every- thing afflicts the thinking of many. There is a big difference between the healthy pursuit of excellence and the unhealthy striving for an impossible ideal. People who strive for excel- lence are orderly and organised and have high expectations from themselves, but they also accept their errors and have positive ways of coping with them. Perfectionists, on the other hand, live in a constant state of stress. Such ones may avoid do- ing anything new or may put off doing important things be- cause of fear of failure. The reality is, few ever succeed at being the best. And even when someone does, it’s usually just a matter of time before another one comes along who is better. A good question to consider is, “has my excessively high standards made it easy for me to have friends? Probably not. One may have rejected people because they did not come up to their standards. ‘Why would people tend to avoid me because of my perfec- tionism?’ One may wonder. Generally, voicing high expec- tations even of oneself and be- ing self-centred has a negative effect on others who struggle to keep a balance. The closer one gets to a per- son, the more likely one sees his / her flaws. By overlooking mi- nor faults and accepting them as they are and by being adapt- able, one is able to work harmo- niously with all sorts of people. Expecting more than what one can give or comparing two indi- viduals prevents one to see the potential in each. At times, we hear, “I’m an in- dividual, there is no one like me.” A saying expresses this fact simply . “The fingers are not all of the same length.” Being willing to forgive and changing one’s course or actions as new circumstances arise, help in maintaining a wavelength with different kinds of people. Also, by being fair and rational, it is possible to be yielding when necessary. Expecting perfection from imperfect people and in a less than ideal environment is ab- surd. So, one can ask, ‘Do I suc- ceed in collaborating with oth- ers? Am I reasonable in what I expect from others?’ A rigid driving, “do more, do more, do more!” Approach may disheart- en and demotivate those, who are doing all they can. How sad it would be if one has a reputation for being “hard to please” – a far cry from rea- sonableness! Pink is for girls and blue is for boys. Dresses are for women and pants are for men. However, times are changing. The rise of gender-neutral clothing has taken the fashion indus- try by storm. Brands are starting to break down the barriers of gender stereotypes, of- fering clothing that is comfortable, stylish, and suitable for anyone, re- gardless of gender. Gender-neutral clothing is all about breaking down the traditional gender roles that we have been conditioned to believe. Indian clothing has always had a touch of androgyny to it, but in recent years, more brands and designers have sparked the gender-neutral debate again and even added collections of the same. Gender-neutral clothing is clothing that is designed to be suitable for peo- ple of any gender identity or expres- sion. It is designed to be inclusive of all genders, regardless of whether they fit into traditional male or fe- male clothing categories. Designing clothing that is meant to be worn by anyone, regardless of gen- der, reduces the need for separate clothing lines for men and women. This can help to reduce the environ- mental impact of the fashion indus- try and promote sustainability. Indian males adapted to unisex fashion years ago. It is a wonderful turn that fashion is taking where men and women are both choosing to share wardrobes and fit. However, Women have traditionally been more permit- ted to dress androgynously. You can also experiment one way is to start with accessories. You can add a gender-neutral hat, bag, or shoes to your outfit to give it a more modern and progressive look. Another way to incorporate gender-neutral clothing is to layer your outfits. By layering different pieces, you can create a unique and stylish look that is gender-neutral with over- sized clothing, like an over- sized blazer or shirt, to create a more relaxed and effortless look. It is important to remember that gender-neutral clothing makes you feel comforta- ble and confident no matter how you are carrying it. YOUR DAY Horoscope by Saurabbh Sachdeva he Internation- al Day for Bio- logical Diversi- ty is a momen- tous occasion celebrated an- nually on May 22 to raise awareness about the critical impor- tance of biodiversity and to highlight the ur- gent need for its conser- vation. Recognized by the United Nations, this day serves as a reminder of our collective respon- sibility to protect and sustainably manage the Earth's rich and diverse ecosystems. In this arti- cle, we delve into the sig- nificance of biodi- versity, the challenges it faces, and the actions we can take to preserve this invaluable asset for future generations. Biodiversity refers to the incredible variety of life forms on our planet, encompassing all living organisms, including plants, animals, and mi- croorganisms, as well as the intricate networks of interactions between them and their environ- ments. It is the founda- tion of ecosystem func- tioning and provides numerous ecological, economic, and social benefits. Biodiversity supports the provision of essential ecosystem services such as clean air and water, pollina- tion, nutrient cycling, and climate regulation. It also contributes to cultural and aesthetic values, scientific discov- eries, and potential sources of new medi- cines. Unfortunately, biodi- versity is under im- mense pressure due to various human activi- ties. Habitat destruction, deforesta- tion, pollution, climate change, overexploita- tion of natural resourc- es, and the introduction of invasive species have all contributed to the de- cline of species and eco- systems worldwide. The loss of biodiversity not only diminishes the re- silience of ecosystems but also jeopardizes food security , water availabil- ity, and human well-be- ing. It is imperative that we address these chal- lenges and reverse the current trajectory of biodiversity loss. Preserving biodiver- sity requires a collective effort involving govern- ments, organiza- tions, communi- ties, and indi- viduals. Here are some key actions that can contribute to biodiversity conserva- tion: Protecting and restor- ing habitats: Preserv- ing intact ecosystems and restoring degrad- ed habitats are essen- tial for safeguarding biodiversity. This in- cludes establishing protected areas, con- serving critical habi- tats, and promoting sustainable land-use practices. Promoting sustaina- ble agriculture and forestry: Encourag- ing sustainable farm- ing practices that minimize the use of pesticides, conserve soil fertility, and pro- tect natural habitats can help main- tain biodiversi- ty in agricultur- al landscapes. Simi- larly, adopting re- sponsible forest man- agement practices can mitigate defor- estation and habitat destruction. Combatting climate change: Addressing climate change is cru- cial for biodiversity conservation. Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, pro- mote renewable en- ergy sources, and adapt to changing cli- matic conditions can help safeguard vul- nerable species and ecosystems. Combating invasive species: Pre- venting and managing the intro- duction of i nv a s ive species is crucial for preserving native biodiversity. Early detection, rapid response, and effec- tive control measures are vital in minimiz- ing their negative im- pacts. Raising awareness and education: Edu- cating people about the importance of bi- odiversity and the ac- tions they can take to protect it is funda- mental. Awareness campaigns, educa- tional programs, and citizen science initia- tives can empower individuals to con- tribute to biodiversi- ty conservation. The International Day for Biological Diver- sity serves as a poignant reminder of the critical role that biodiversity plays in sustaining life on Earth. It calls upon individuals, communi- ties, and governments to take proactive steps in conserving and restor- ing biodiversity for the benefit of current and future generations. By valuing and protecting the extraordinary web of life that surrounds us, we can ensure a resil- ient and vibrant planet that thrives with di- verse species, healthy ecosys- tems, and a sus- tainable future for all.
