This app is for lazy, forgetful, working –
middleclass and workaholics
People trying to save money or worried about
leaving appliances on
Whenever away from home
While at work or out socialising
For peace of mind
3. You often go to work or go out and can’t
remember if you switched the heating or
appliances off before you left. Your bills could
be high because of this happening regularly
4. What can you do when you are at work or
away from home and you can’t remember if
you switched everything off?
5. You arrive at work and you think you left the
iron on or another appliance. Perhaps you
forgot to turn the heating off and are worried
about your bill being excessively high. Just
check the app and make sure everything is off
6. Our team, The Dark Fire Stars, has developed
an app that we think will be very useful for all
homeowners for economic reasons as well as
safety issues.
Keep an eye on bills
Manage appliances
Safety reasons
Convenience
Peace of mind
7. Full time workers

Busy families

Tado – Detects if someone is in the
home, controls temperature, save energy –
£6.99 month or £249 to buy
myHome - Heating and burglar alarm - £149
9. The apps core feature is the ability to control
appliances in your home while you are away
from home
For example being at work and needing to turn
off the iron because you left it on by mistake.
This provides peace of mind as well as being a
handy safety feature.
Competitors tend to focus on heating whereas
we are both heating and appliances
10. Must connect to central hub to control heating
and appliances.
Must be able to show user current bill estimate
14. There will be an installation charge as with all
other apps of this type but we are more reasonable
than our main competitors thus giving us an
advantage.
Getting help from people with previous experience
in creating these apps will be very advantegeous.
The technology already exists and is increasing in
popularity with energy providers. If we could stir
up some interest it would make getting the app up
and running a lot more feasible.
15. Our plan is to find an energy provider who
would be keen to get involved with the
creation of our app.
We can come to an arrangement with the
provider which will alleviate the costs of
advertising from ourselves leaving us to focus
on the development side of things.
We will take a percentage of all sales of the
application.
17. Our most influential source of marketing will
be television as not everyone reads papers or
magazines but most households own a
television.
Secondary will be magazines and newspapers.
Home magazines and technology will probably
be the way to go as these are probably the most
likely to attract customers.
