The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a nationwide award program established to recognize
schools creating healthier school environments through their promotion of good nutrition and
physical activity.
• USDA Recipes for Schools
The updated recipes from the 1988 Quantity Recipes for School Food Service and the 1995 Tool Kit
for Healthy School Meals are now available. These recipes have been edited and reflect the changes
made in the newest edition of the Food Buying Guide for Child Nutrition Programs.
• Culinary Nutrition News
Culinary Nutrition News articles and The Ingredient of the Month are free downloadable guides
featuring a new nutritional ingredient for chefs to incorporate into their menus. Available the first
Monday of the month, the downloadable guide will provide an in-depth look the latest in nutrition
ingredients.

28. The American Culinary Federation provides grants
to chefs volunteering for Chefs Move to
Schools. Funds can be used to reimburse volunteers
for out-of-pocket expenses on supplies such as food,
educational materials, school gardens, and activities
and projects that promote healthy eating and
nutrition.
Grant award is $250. To be eligible for the grant
chefs must be registered on the Chefs Move to
Schools website, be matched with a school and have
volunteered at least twice within a year. Download
a grant application today and apply!
