2. The 188A (Business Innovation Stream) Visa is available to
individuals who have been nominated by an Australian State
or Territory government and meet the required points test.
To be considered for nomination, applicants must submit an
Expression of Interest (EOI) through the SkillSelect system.
This visa is designed for individuals who wish to establish or
manage a new or existing business in Australia. It provides a
5-year temporary visa, allowing applicants to run their
business and apply for permanent residency through the
Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass
888 visa. After holding the subclass 188 visa for three years,
an additional 2-year extension is available, providing a total
of six years from the original visa’s grant date.

3. FEATURES:
Business Operation: Applicants can operate a new
or existing business in Australia.
Duration of Stay: Visa holders can travel to, enter,
and remain in Australia for up to 6, 7, or 8 years
from the date of the original Business Innovation
and Investment (Provisional) visa (Subclass 188)
grant in the Business Innovation stream.
Family Inclusion: Eligible family members can
accompany the primary visa holder.
Path to Permanent Residency: Applicants can apply
for a permanent Business Innovation and
Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) in the
Business Innovation stream if they meet specific
requirements.

4. ELIGIBILITY:
Previous Visa: Applicants must hold or have
held a Business Innovation and Investment
(Provisional) visa (subclass 188) in the Business
Innovation stream for at least three years or a
Business Innovation and Investment
(Provisional) visa (subclass 188) in the Business
Innovation Extension stream and not have held
more than one Business Innovation and
Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) in
the Business Innovation Extension stream.
Nomination: Applicants must be nominated by a
State or Territory government agency.
