INTRODUCTION
Among the environmental problems of
Chile it is recognized that erosion, or "soil
cancer", constitutes from the environmen-
tal point of view and probably in socioeco-
nomic terms, the most relevant in the fo-
restry and agricultural sector. At the natio-
nal level, according to official figures 2010,
the total area of eroded soils reaches 50% of
the national territory.
Half a million hectares of degraded and
eroded soils are recovered in 20 years.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The general objective of this work is to
rescue the lessons learned from erosion
control programs for the recovery of
eroded and degraded soils. half a million
hectares of degraded and eroded soils are
recovered in 20 years.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE
1. Examine the impacts of programs of
recovery of degraded soils for the
erosion control.
2. Extract lessons learned for countries
with soil erosion and rural poverty.
3. Share this challenging experience

CONCLUSION AND
LESSONS LEARNED
1. From the application of the law of
Chilean forestry development between
1996-2015, to encourage afforestation,
especially by small forest owners and of
that necessary for the prevention of
degradation, protection and recovery of
soils of the national territory, it is
possible Get the following lessons: half a
million hectares of degraded and eroded
soils are recovered in 20 years. Have
public policies of long term horizon.
*If the soil is conserved, the water is conserved, the forest is conserved and also
the people in the countryside.*
2. Carry out a planning phase.
Develop a phase of implementation of
technical standar and cost.
3. Promote a technology transfer and
dissemination.
4. Combination of COVORAGE and SOILS
AND WATER CONSERVATION of
MICROWATERSHED.
5. From the application of incentives to
payment for enviromental service.
6. SOIL ECOSYSTEM SERVICE.
7.Conceive an associativity of public
private policies and research.
8.Develop an integrated incentive system.
9.Promote a cultural change towards soil
and water.
