  1. 1. The Spanish alphabet is very similar to the English alphabet. Both alphabets use the same letters in the same order. Spanish just adds a few extra letters. Of course, the letters have different names.
  2. 2. A B C CH D E F G H I J K L LL M N Ñ O P Q R RR S T U V W X Y Z The letters CH, LL, and RR are technically no longer considered true letters of the alphabet. However, in some dictionaries, they are still included as separate letters.
  3. 3. The only 2 letters in the Spanish alphabet that have different sounds are the letters C and G. They both have a soft sound before the letters E and I ca = “kah” ce = “say” ci = “see” co = “koh” cu = “koo” ga = “gah” ge = “hay” gi = “hee” go = “go” gu = “goo”
  4. 4. The vowels in Spanish are A E I O U Each vowel only has ONE sound!
  5. 5. Wait... Did you get that? Maybe you need to hear the vowels one more time...
  6. 6. Most of the consonants in the Spanish alphabet sound the same as in English. B C D F G K L M N P Q R S T W Z These letters have the same, or nearly the same sound, in English and Spanish.
  7. 7. The letters with different sounds H = silent Ñ = the letters “ny” in English LL = the letter “Y” in English J = the letter “H” in English RR = a “trilled” r sound in Spanish, the “V” makes the same sound as the letter “B”.
  8. 8. Use your pronunciation guide to learn how to say all of the letters PERFECTLY! !!
