A surprising fact
A rhetorical generalization
An anecdote
Quotations
3. Using “Attention Grabbers” cont.
Surprising fact
They teach the reader something interesting and unexpected

wildlife. See it in your mind– a place where kids play in green grass and the lake is
so clear that families swim in it on hot weekends. It would be like a dream to live
in an unpolluted world.
