This document outlines a nutrition unit for students. It includes two lessons that aim to teach students about the six essential nutrients: water, fat, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates. In Lesson 1, students learn the definitions of key words and read a book to learn the six nutrients. They then research the function and food sources of each nutrient. In Lesson 2, students review the six nutrients and provide food examples for each. They then create an expository mini-book explaining the name, function, and food sources of each nutrient to apply their knowledge. The next step will be to assess students' mastery of the nutrient information.
